What an amazing day two of the May Day / "Cut Contracts, Not Classrooms" Art Build! As these photos can clearly attest our MPS picket lines and the Milwaukee May Day march will be full of rad art in support of immigrant and refugee justice and an MPS budget that restores hours and positions of student-facing frontline workers while securing a full cost of living adjustment for all workers on July 1. Thanks to all the artists who designed work for the art build and to all who took time this weekend to share your artistic abilities and talents in support of these critical fights for justice. See you in the streets soon!

ART BUILD FOR CARAVAN & SERENADE TO ADELANT0 ICE PRISON
Many hands from our communities came together on Wednesday to create art to visually serenade and honor the immigrants locked in Adelanto.
Out in the Mojave Desert, in Adelanto, Calif., about 100 miles from Los Angeles, sits a concentration camp for immigrants. A private company has the contract to keep more than 2,000 people caged there. The human beings inside the Adelanto ICE Processing Center are not there to be punished for any crimes. Most have never been charged with or convicted of any crimes.
They are victims of the Trump Administration’s brutally random campaign of mass arrests and mass deportation. They have been rounded up and sent to this privately run prison warehouse. There are others like it around the country, and there soon may be many more.
This brutality and inhumanity cannot stand. On Saturday, March 14, hundreds of allies of immigrant rights will gather outside the prison for a “serenata,” a serenade, to honor and support all the immigrants who have been unjustly locked away in Adelanto, some for years.
The National Day Laborer Organizing Network is among the organizations leading a caravan from Pasadena to Adelanto that day. Families of detained immigrants will speak.
A concert will begin at 4 p.m.
