MAMA SALON presents TOILE a duo exhibition with ISABELLA BENSHIMOL TORO (@isabella.benshimol ) & FLORENCE REEKIE (@florencereekie ) From toile—cloth—to toilette—ritual, this pairing lingers in moments of preparation. Fabric becomes both surface and structure, holding traces of the body as it adjusts, composes, and reflects. Between painting and preserved form, the works unfold like a quiet exchange—an intimate space where the private act of becoming is gently made visible. • Isabella Benshimol Toro, 𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘵 (2026), Perspex box, used clothes, epoxy resin, 30 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm Florence Reekie, 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵 (2026), Oil on wool mix, 40 x 60 cm

MAMA SALON presents TOILE a duo exhibition with ISABELLA BENSHIMOL TORO (@isabella.benshimol ) & FLORENCE REEKIE (@florencereekie ) OPENING 27.03.2026, 6-8PM (all welcome) 28.03.2026-29.03.2026, 12-6PM 309 BETHNAL GREEN ROAD, E2 • ISABELLA BENSHIMOL TORO (b.1994, Venezuela) is a London-based artist whose practice explores the material traces of everyday life. Working across sculpture, installation, and photography, she often uses clothing and domestic textiles that have been worn or handled, preserving them in resin and silicone so that gestures of use remain visible. By isolating these ordinary objects—laundry, garments, and other items tied to daily routines—her work reflects on the quiet rhythms of domestic space and the ways personal belongings accumulate memory over time. Benshimol Toro has presented solo exhibitions including Scatter Symphony at NEVEN (London, 2025), Timelines (o cortes transversales del tiempo) at Galería Belmonte (Madrid, 2025), Rinse and Hold at ZÉRUÌ (London, 2024), and Sketches at 11 Grosvenor Place (London, 2024). Her work has also been shown at Les Vitrines, Institut Français (Berlin, 2025) and in group exhibitions at Saatchi Gallery (London), Artagon Pantin (Paris), Piloto Pardo (London), and Triangolo at Palazzo Guazzoni (Cremona), among others. 📸 @emergentmagazine for Isabella’s interview with @lore_is_alender

Using drapery, discarded garments, and patterned textiles as her primary subjects, Reekie considers how dress mediates identity, vanity, and self-presentation. Rather than functioning as simple props, fabrics structure her compositions and become a way to examine the cultural codes embedded in adornment, domestic labour, and personal ritual. Reekie (b.1991, Scotland) lives and works in France. Reekie presented her first solo exhibition, Sumptuary Laws, with MAMA (London, UK) in 2023. Her work has since appeared in exhibitions including The Yellow Wallpaper at Incubator, curated with MAMA (London, UK); Changing the Subject at Annely Juda (London, UK); Woman on a Balcony at Sargent’s Daughters (New York, USA); and presentations at MEGA Art Fair (Milan, Italy). Her work has been published in Art Quarterly (Spring 2022) and featured on ArtBasel.com (2024). In 2021 she was awarded the Art Fund ‘Museum of the Year’ Aberdeen Art Gallery Micro Commission and her work is held in the permanent collection at The Aberdeen Art Gallery, Scotland.
