We are excited to invite you to the opening ceremony of “UPROOT: BIPOC Visions of Our Food System”. UPROOT is a curated experience that will include sound baths, food, experiences, and art workshops, in addition to a community art show. Through collective envisioning of an equitable and just food system, this healing and interactive show shares the artwork, experiences, and stories of local BIPOC food leaders and community members. The opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, July 13th, at Earthseed Land Collective in Durham from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. We invite you to gather with us for local food, music, and a ceremony honoring our community and their devotion to each other. At 6:00 p.m., we will host a sound bath, facilitated by Imane El Ghazouani (@luv_waves ). In addition to the opening ceremony, we’re hosting several workshops and events that will deepen an understanding of our experiences and a connection to creating a more equitable food system. Local artists and activists will facilitate these events. This exhibition is a collaboration between the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS), the Committee on Racial Equity (CORE), and the Durham Powerful Arts Collective (@durmpac ). Look out for more details on events and workshops!
