Wow! What a day we had yesterday! It was so great to see your smiling faces again in our new space. We are beyond words but @ozarksalive wrote a great post for us with some great pictures.
Arrow Creative Reuse is officially open in its new location! This downtown Springfield nonprofit is a thrift store for art supplies — they offer supplies at a significant discount, and keep them out of the landfill.
In addition to the store, the location is also a new home for the Shoe Tree Listening Room Shoe Tree Listening Room, an alcohol-free music venue that specializes in unique traveling artists.
And they’re both labors of love led by locals: Re Baker-Dietz is in charge, and her parents, Sandi and Dave, are very involved. Other volunteers help support these missions, too. It’s inspiring to see this commitment to offering these opportunities — for sustainability and creativity — to the Ozarks.

We want to share the good news that we’ve signed a lease for THIS BUILDING today and will be moving in by September 1! That’s right, we are closing our doors at 1506 E St. Louis Street on August 10th to pack up the store and we’ll be ready this Fall to provide you with secondhand art supplies at 616 W. Tampa street. Since we will be closed most of August and most likely part of September, we are asking for your help! We need a grant writer to volunteer with us to try for the funding we will miss during the move, and/or we need YOU to continue supporting your local art supply thrift store by donating dollars. Help Springfield have access to affordable secondhand creative materials in a new space! You can donate today on our website ArrowCreativeReuse.org. You can show up in person at 1506 until August 10th and drop a donation in our jar. You can get a ticket to any of our awesome upcoming @shoetreelisteningroom shows to support live music AND art. (It’s a win win).
OH! The Shoe Tree Listening room at Arrow Art Annex will continue to have shows, art classes and events at it’s current location, 1342 E St. Louis street. (We thought we could try to put both spots under one roof, but we just can’t find a building big enough, dang it). Needless to say, we are excited for the new brick and mortar for the thrift store, even though we will miss our previous location for nostalgic reasons (what a great start we had there). The new building will be a little bigger and hopefully more accessible to those seeking creativity and a safe place to just make dreams come true! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far to make this move possible. We are not out of the woods yet; we cannot do this without you and our valuable team of volunteers. Lots of questions this season about how to donate gently used art and craft materials to your local art supply thrift shop, Arrow Creative Reuse at 1506 E St. Louis street. Here’s a quick guide. We would love to accept every thing that walks in, but unfortunately we have to limit our donations due to limited processing space. Help us out by filling out our donation form on our website and we’ll get back to you about when to bring items in. When you come by to donate, please ask for help before bringing in your boxes. Right now we are really low on fine art materials, canvas, scrapbooking supplies, and more. Take a look at the list on our website and clean out your space! We look forward to hearing from you.
Our volunteer Cathe got some great fabric ready to sell. She does such an amazing job measuring, rolling and labeling to fit the shelves. There’s a mix of cottons for quilting and different types of prints for whatever project your heart desires. Come and see what you can find at 616 W. Tampa. We’re here from 11-4 this weekend.
