While I can't exactly recall the why and the how, I believe a one-shot ride from Savonlinna to Joensuu seemed like a stretch too far. Or the shortest road was really boring, who knows. I rode mostly deserted roads - and a ferry connecting them - and ended up staying the night somewhere at the border of Kolovesi national park. The next day apparently lined up exactly with graduation day for the local teenagers of Joensuu, who took over the streets by night time.
