THURSDAY 26 FEBRUARY - 20.30 - @schuurhaarlem - I cordially invite you to our official premiere of this co-production with @silberseeopera : All The Lonely People How is it that some lives end in utter loneliness? With All the Lonely People, Silbersee and I pay tribute to these forgotten lives in a musical mosaic. The true stories are often wondrous, exciting, surprising, and heartbreakingly painful, but above all, deeply human. Actress Jacqueline Blom (@jacqueline_blom ), accompanied by a diverse cast of multi-performers, steps into the lives of people who died alone. Together, they reconstruct the absurd, colorful life stories of these people who exist outside the gaze of society. They are their neighbors, absent family members, and the funeral director. What happened to these people that led them to die in utter loneliness? The performance is based on the stories author Joris van Casteren recorded for de Volkskrant in the series “De Eenzame Uitvaart” (The Lonely Funeral). He has been a long-time advocate for the eponymous foundation, which invites poets to read at funerals without relatives. CREDITS Concept, editing, and direction: Mart van Berckel. OR SEBASTIAN release their first EP with Gay P🌸&n Suite. Arnout Lems wrote a modern "suite" around the theme of p🌸*n, as part of a search for identity and the extent to which sx plays a role in it. Using snippets from the opening dialogues of adult movies together with queer academic and literary writing, it is sometimes funny, often deadly serious. OR SEBASTIAN sang together for the first time in the "dance opera" 8:Metamorphosis by @nicolebeutlerprojects (VSCD Mime Prize, the international Music Theatre Now Award, and a VSCD Zwaan nomination). We’re working on some new music which will (eventually) become our first EP, titled: Gay P*rn Suite. It’s a cycle of songs for four queer voices reflecting on the gay sexual experience. It’s written by Arnout with inspiration taken from the likes of Allen Ginsberg, George Friedrich Handel and... Fraternity X 😈. We’re working very hard and can’t wait to share the results with you, both on record and live (dates to be announced soon). 🌈

This week Robin Coops joins us at Space for Dance Art for his research for 𝘋𝘖𝘕𝘚, culminating in a first presentation on May 23-24 at Space for Dance Art. Tickets are now on sale! In the club opera 𝘋𝘖𝘕𝘚,director and composer Robin Coops challenges traditional gender roles. In a society shaped by political and commercial interests, 𝘋𝘖𝘕𝘚 invites the audience to release ingrained gender norms and embrace a fluid, authentic way of being. 𝘋𝘖𝘕𝘚 takes place in a club setting where the boundaries between performer and audience blur. Nicholas Thayer’s music merges elements from Mozart’s Don Giovanni with dark electronic beats and deep synthesizers, creating an immersive soundscape that is both classical and innovative. The audience moves freely through the space, surrounded by a sonic and visual world that confronts, questions, and invites reflection.
