All The Lonely People
How is it that some lives end in utter loneliness? With All the Lonely People, Silbersee and I pay tribute to these forgotten lives in a musical mosaic. The true stories are often wondrous, exciting, surprising, and heartbreakingly painful, but above all, deeply human.
Actress Jacqueline Blom (
@jacqueline_blom ), accompanied by a diverse cast of multi-performers, steps into the lives of people who died alone. Together, they reconstruct the absurd, colorful life stories of these people who exist outside the gaze of society. They are their neighbors, absent family members, and the funeral director. What happened to these people that led them to die in utter loneliness?
The performance is based on the stories author Joris van Casteren recorded for de Volkskrant in the series “De Eenzame Uitvaart” (The Lonely Funeral). He has been a long-time advocate for the eponymous foundation, which invites poets to read at funerals without relatives.
