IV. Spring Rounds
Huge thank you to @boldi__kovacs for joining in my most ambitious project yet—it wasn’t easy but I’m glad we were able to get this finished in time before we both head off!
The arrangement will be available оn my website as always, and the tracks are available on Spotify as well.
My new piece ‘Push and Pull’ for two marimbas is out now - full video in bio! This piece is my first duet for 5-octave marimbas - many thanks to @hujudy7 for performing it with me, I couldn’t have asked for a better duo and can’t wait to play it live later in April on her last recital at Juilliard!

Finally getting around to making a post—I had I had an incredible time in Louisiana and Texas last month playing recitals, presenting clinics/masterclasses, teaching lessons, and percussion ensemble!
Huge thank you to Dr. Lyons for inviting me out to Louisiana Tech University as a guest artist for the Percussion Ensemble Festival, to Dr. Eldridge and Jesus Martinez for inviting me out to UTA and Arlington ISD, and to Ty Bennett, Dr. Zator and Will Champion for inviting me out to Commerce HS and East Texas A&M University! At first I was nervous to come, but everyone made me feel so welcome, and I thoroughly enjoyed working with and meeting each and every one of the students—It was my first time ever visiting LA/TX and doing so many solo engagements in a week, so this trip really meant a lot to me. Hope to play again with you all soon!
Special thanks to Arnor Chu for coming to visit this week to give masterclasses and clinics about performance and composition, followed by a killer recital at the Arlington Performing Arts Center!
Dallas/Fort Worth friends! I’m playing a solo concert/masterclass in Arlington this Tuesday, the 24th- my first time playing in Texas! I’ll be playing some classics, Drift Away, and a brand new piece of mine as well. Would love to see you there, please come say hi! Tickets and details in bio, discount for students available.
Stepped out of my usual routine this weekend—had a great time working with the @rcrpercussion front ensemble and sharing my clinic on performance and composition. I started my percussion journey in high school playing marimba in indoor drumline, so crossing paths with this activity again for the first time in 7 years meant a lot to me. Thanks so much to Calvin and Eric for inviting me out to MN and making me feel so welcome!
Listen to one of our 2025 percussion fellows, Arnor Chu share his insight on what it’s like to be in Santa Barbara and how to make the most of your summer while at our music festival 🔥🎵 Apply now to be an instrumental or piano fellow next summer 🥁☀️ Link in bio.

I may have taken this classic marimba solo a little too fast this time around…seems the longer you sit with it the faster it gets. Merlin II was written in 1985 at 72bpm. Accounting for inflation, that means 220bpm in today’s time. That’s how it works…right??
Scheherazade is found on just about every snare drum audition list out there and we’ve all practiced it as an excerpt at some point. However, there is still nothing like playing it live and needing to adjust to the trumpets and the rest of the orchestra in real time. Also…remember to turn on your snares before playing😛 oops
Ravel - Gaspard de la Nuit: ‘Ondine’ intro on vibraphone challenge: looks really easy, but it’s definitely harder than it looks…trust me! 😬 Give it a try! One of my favourite pieces of all time.
