I haven’t been performing or teaching for a few years now, but when Impulstanz calls… it’s time to dance. Warm invitation! Verena Schneider & Arne Mannott circus arts X dance Intensive 3, 1.8.+2.8.2026 The workshop brings together performers, dancers, circus artists, and interested participants to collectively explore the connection between circus arts and dance. The focus lies on exchange, experimentation, and the development of performative and choreographic approaches. Drawing on Bauke Lievens’ concept of “tragic virtuosity” – a body that does not shine through flawless mastery, but through its persistent struggle with resistance, risk, and uncertainty – participants explore circus and dance as action, state, and an ongoing search. Verena and Arne present their own work at the intersection of handstand acrobatics and dance / performance, as well as object manipulation. Through practical exercises on risk, virtuosity, balance, tension, timing, object relations, repeatable scores, and improvisational structures, participants develop, among other things, short solos and duets. Accompanying textual impulses and theoretical exchange formats emphasise the research-oriented approach. (c) Isabella Hewlett

Neue Spielorte eingeweiht, eine neue Eigenproduktion kreiert, ein internationales Symposium und Vernetzungstreffen organisiert, und vor allem: unzählige wunderschöne Momente und Begegnungen mit Menschen, die Zirkus mutig weiterdenken. Und natürlich mit Menschen, die kommen, um diese Kunstwerke anzuschauen, sich darüber austauschen und das Festival damit zu einem gemeinschaftlichen Ort machen. Schöner gehts nicht. Danke!
