The new VLR sprue in our 1/72 P-51D Mustang includes:
• 110-gallon escort tanks
• streamlined 150-gallon P-38 tanks
• HVAR rockets and launch rails
• details specific to Very Long Range operations over Japan
In the new article we show the parts, explain their historical background, and present a simple assembly solution that helps align the rocket rails evenly under the wing.

There are already many Mustang decal options on the market, so one of the biggest challenges while preparing P-51D Mustang VLR #70073 was finding fresh markings not previously covered by other kits.
Another challenge was designing the complex “Little One” tail stripes so they would properly fit the curved rear fuselage of the Mustang.
