I wrote my thesis on vernacular typography — a topic that’s been both a huge interest and an even bigger project over the past couple of years. It’s shaped not just my design work, but also how I look at the world around me. Suddenly allowing me to see languages as more than just communication: they turned into a way of seeing culture, the mix of high and lowbrow visual language, and the practice of design itself.
Over the past year it’s been one of my main sources of inspiration, alongside a massive (and still growing) image library that I keep adding to pretty much every week. Unfortunately for my anglophone followers, the thesis is in Flemish. 💃🏻
