A transformation of an old, historical apartment building from 1830 in the inner city of Copenhagen into a psychology practice. Interior design, spatial planning and furniture curation by Ark Forma. The project defines a space for the clinic Alethia. The design intent has been to depart from the conventional clinical environment and instead create a setting that references the qualities of a home. Natural materials, tactility and warm tones has been a particular attention and how sensory qualities in a space may influence overall well-being.

“Creating the exhibition identity for CRAFT AND TOOL, curated and designed by Ark Forma, has been an inspiring collaboration. It aims to display the vast diversity in the exhibited works while celebrating the site of Nivaagaard Teglværks Ringovn’s history of craftsmanship and industrial labour. The signage mimics the materials of the circular kiln without interfering with its architecture, as the building is listed. Thank you for the trust.”
Last chance to experience the exhibition at Nivaagaard Teglværks Ringovn CRAFT & TOOL - An Exploration in the weekend 27–28 of September from 10.00-15.00.

Nivaagaard Teglværks Ringovn from 1870 provides the setting for the exhibition. It is Denmarks’ only preserved circular Hoffmann kiln, invented by German engineer Friedrich Eduard Hoffmann in the mid-1800s. The development of the circular kiln enabled continuous, uninterrupted brick production - a groundbreaking invention consisting of 15 chambers arranged in a circle, allowing the work process to move from chamber to chamber with the traveling fire zone, rather than moving the stacked bricks themselves. The site’s industrial heritage creates a dynamic dialogue between past craft traditions, the great advances of industrial history, and the creative design practices of today. A practice that encompasses elements of our historical craft traditions as well as contemporary influences, material awareness and optimization.
Ark Forma presents 19 works by today’s emerging designers, architects and artists, at the exhibition CRAFT & TOOL at Nivaagaard Teglværks Ringovn from the 6th - 28th of September 2025.

Vraa Stool, 2025
Material: Solid ash wood, natural linseed wax, wool and linen textiles
Ark Forma unites architecture and design in a cross-disciplinary creative practice rooted in craft heritage and driven by a conceptual, site-specific approach. Their methodology combines the past and the present by integrating historical references with contemporary design principles, connecting traditional craftsmanship with modern production techniques and a responsible use of materials. Working in the fields of furniture, interior and exhibition design, the studio presents their first furniture project at the exhibition.
“The Vraa Stool is a sculptural and functional chair that bridges past and present, local craftsmanship and responsible use of materials. The piece draws inspiration from Danish Peasant Furniture used by the rural communities between 1500-1900 in Denmark but reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Rooted in tradition, the Vraa Stool is named after the Danish word ‘vraa’, meaning a corner. The project is a special collaboration with the fashion company AF AGGER to develop a piece of furniture that aligns with the company’s goal of reducing textile waste from the clothing industry. Vraa Stool is representing beautiful leftover textiles from previous collections of AF AGGER, giving new life and value to materials that would otherwise go to waste”.
