Progress Report:
10 consistent weeks in after the hardest and longest fall-off-the-wagon of my life and pretty much starting from scratch.
itās only the beginning. A long way to go. But a mirror-selfie is always a good sign innit. We all become the very thing that made us cringe.
Anyway, haters gonna hate. Potatoes gonna potate. I should celebrate.
Throwback? Throwback.
Late 1997. Air-Force Auditorium, Subroto Park, New Delhi.
At 16 years old, after months of rehearsal - it was one of my first few times on the stage in front of a live audience, and my very first time being cast as a āleadā in anything. āOrlandoā in William Shakespeareās āAs You Like Itā, put up by the students and staff of the @britishschool_newdelhi .
After 5-6 years of harbouring this secret desire, and 2-3 years of persistently shy, conscious, stiff and wooden performances through Drama class - this was the first time that I ever felt the actual thrill of extracting laughter and applause from an audience. The first time I felt myself actually slip into a character and feel something new. The first time I felt any kind of confidence in my ability to actually do this to any acceptable degree, and the realisation that I could happily dedicate my life to that pursuit.
Almost 30 years on - the pursuit continues.
Must also give acknowledgement here to the uh-mazing Make-Up team (whoever you were) and my brothers and partners-in-crime seen in these photographs - kuniseagull and @kanugupta .
Alex Garland put it well in āThe Beachā:
āI still believe in Paradise.
But now at least I know itās not some place you can look for.
Because itās not where you go, but how you feel for a moment in your life.
And when you find that moment - it lasts forever.ā

Iāll never forget when, at the end of a particularly gruelling shoot-day at Ludhiana Fort, probably sensing that his A.D.s were at the brink of collapse, Director @rakeyshommehra got the Direction team into a tight huddle near the parking area at wrap, measured his words and said, āI know it feels really difficult right now, but just hang in there - what weāre doing here is important. And if we do it well, you will be very proud.ā
I think about that till today. And it has silently played itās part in shaping my very intent and approach towards my life and my work.
Forever grateful, forever proud to have been a small part of the creation of this film, this movement - that continues to become increasingly relevant, everyday.
It marked my last film as an Assistant Director before I started pursuing acting.

I wonāt admit it easily or often, because apparently I love being hard on myself - but 2025 was by no means an absolute write off.
As I sat there, wondering if I had already been on a set for the very last time⦠It was from that abyss, that a āvery firstā too, emerged.
With immense gratitude towards the young and talented @paranjayarora .
And a little help from @apple .
Bad year, bad road, bad traffic, bad light, bad backdrop⦠But some of the best pieces of my heart. ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
Happy new year to one and all. May this one be better, and so may we.
Film professionals from Worli to Versova scratching their heads this December, wondering where else they can find good, experienced actors that have been overlooked for years (decade or two), donāt care to be papped, canāt be f****d to jump through social-media circus hoops, and wish to be known only by their talent and chops, so they can be graciously lifted out of āActors who donāt get their dueā listicles and add the value to projects that only they can.
Wait, did somebody say non-nepo preferred too, or did I completely misread the room? Oops.
May the coming year be brighter for one, for all and for the collective. And in case I donāt see ya - good afternoon, good evening and goodnight! š«”
ROHIT.
Probably the most chill pro-max / zero-chill characters Iāve ever had the opportunity to portray (Thank you, @theanshumanjha ).
All shades of black, white, grey, and red. Purkhon ki zubaan mein aise insaan ko āKhurafatiā bhi kehte hain.
To know what that means - well, you could google it, but itāll be much more fun to find out at the cinemas on October 10th.
