Agnideva Prabhu @dasaagnideva and I shared so many memories together, both good and difficult. I first saw him during the New York Rathayatra in 2014, when I was already living in the USA. That same year I went to Trinidad with Deena Bandhu Prabhu @deenabandhu9 , where Agnideva Prabhu was serving as the temple president. When he found out that I play harmonium, he asked me to travel with him and play for his kirtans whenever I could, in between my job and my travels with Deena Bandhu Prabhu. It felt like such an exciting opportunity at the time.
Over the years I got to be with him in many kirtan melas across the USA. Later I also traveled with him to other countries like the UK, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. We chanted together, read scriptures together, and I also got chances to serve him personally. What I will always remember most are the kirtan sessions. We would sit and practice the same tunes for hours, and then in the kirtan mela he would suddenly sing something completely different. I would just look at him, confused, and he would laugh and tease me. He had faith in my ability that I could pick up even an unknown tune on the harmonium and was never shy to challenge me.
Anyone who heard his bhajans without knowing him would easily think he was Bengali. His pronunciation was that good.
I remember once we spoke about death, and I said that being older, he would likely leave before me. I also told him that I only want to collect good memories in life. That was the last time I spoke to him.
Today I received the news that he has left this world.
Praying for his onward journey.

A Ride on Yamuna 🌊
Drifting on Yamunā’s gentle stream today,
A verse from Rūpa Goswāmī came my way.
Her banks with softly calling cows adorned,
In colors bright like jewels gently worn.
With kadamba flowers, fragrant in the breeze,
She sways in beauty, moving hearts with ease.
She welcomes all who seek Nanda’s dear son,
In her embrace, all devotees are one.
O Yamunā Devī, ever pure and kind,
Cleanse my heart and soothe my restless mind. ✨

Ranchhodji of Dakor!
Dakor is a major pilgrimage town in Gujarat. Lord Krishna is worshipped here as Ranchhodji, a name that comes from His legendary act of fleeing the battlefield, being attacked by Jarasandha for 18th time. Originally the Deity presided in Dwarka. One devotee named Bodana used to make the trip from the town of Dakor in Gujarat to Dwarka traveling more than 400 kms by foot to take darshan of his beloved Lord. When he became old, he made his final trip to Dwarka and prayed to the Lord that this was his last time to come as he was too old. The Lord was so pleased with Bodana’s pure devotion, He told Bodana to take Him in the evening to Dakor by a simple bullock cart!
In the morning, the Brahmanas discovered the Deity was gone and finally traced Him down to Dakor. The Lord informed Bodana to offer the weight of the Deity in gold and bribe the greedy Brahmanas. Miraculously, when Bodana, who was dirt poor, placed his wife’s tiny gold nose-pin on the scale, it weighed as much as the Lord! Since then, He is worshipped in a grand temple in Dakor! This event established Dakor as an important center of worship for Lord Krishna, where He is known as Ranchhodji.
