“BACK TO THA JUNKYARD”
The second part in my “BACK TO THA…” Trilogy, “BACK TO THA JUNKYARD” is all about confrontation of self, resilience, and rejection.
This concept of revitalizing a junkyard car came to me in late May/early June- while the process itself took several months. Either way, through all the frustration, life changes, and growth, this piece was executed on its own time. I feel life in this piece.
Many instances in my life have wanted me to be nothing, well I decided to become more than that.
I have so much more to say about why “BACK TO THE JUNKYARD”, how, and what it means to me- but I just want to give the world a taste of what it means to make nothing into something.
- ARIS AS ANN-MARIE, THE JUNKYARD DOG.

A painting of Kam in 2016

Mixed Media, oil, acrylic, on canvas
(2026)
Just a quick study. I had an iPod touch back then, I remember this weekend we spent it with my dad, (her uncle) just having fun and passenger riding in the summer heat. She took my little iPod and started snapping away, so in the spirit of nostalgia I wanted to paint that.
Because you know... what feels like the past may already be arriving as something new - quietly in motion, with more than it reveals... 👀🌱
Side note, I often get comments about the signature line I do out of the ear - and honestly it just means those 808s are hitting boyy I was listening to some good music making this.
We create the canvases we want to see in the world at Studio ARIS 🌴🎨🌇
Stay tuned for our upcoming events, programs, and updates for our art lovers, non-art lovers, kids, teens, and adults

happy mothers day ma, if you know of the famous Ana - drop a “heyy Ana” in the comments below
This song was actually the first song we played on New years - it’s kinda feeling like I might need to drag her to get matching tattoos with me today.
Love you.

Thank you to @arisrulz for donating this stunning and powerful piece to Rohi’s Liberation Station for our fundraising event! Alongside our friends at The Emergency Medical Assistance (EMA) Abortion Fund, we are so very excited to gather this evening in support The Guatemalan-Maya Center. All proceeds will go toward the endless work they are doing for family reunification following separation by immigration enforcement agencies.
