Various film and phone of NY and Rocky Horror ❤️ The solo trip was medicine for the heart. I walked way too many miles in my docs, danced until my feet went numb, caught up with some friends as planned and ran into some by mere chance. I got tattoos and walked around the biggest cemetery I’d ever seen. I met a hilarious Greek uber driver that reminded me so much of my grandpa. Had an amazing lunch/visit with my uncle, talked about life and laughed. I had the pleasure of playing bass for my good friend, @tommyeconomy at Elsewhere and shoot some (kinda) blurry but no less vibey film of the following bands And Rocky Horror… was a dream. Sweetest cast of all time. It sparked the theater kid in me from long ago✨

🎉 Sea Peach 🥊 Are we even capable of loving someone? Or is love mostly an attempt at cleaning our own reflection? Is it just a mode of de-collapsing our own dimensions? Filling the empty corners of how we know deep down we are supposed to be constructed? Making the contrast between what is shitty about us and what is lovely about us less definable. Growing up on the outskirts of reno I felt like I fell in love with the contrast of downtown. It was oz. Fancy. A shiny, far off land. I didn’t know how grimey it actually was because my own little world was grimier. The double wide trailer days. My lovely parents moved us on up eventually but my childhood was largely spent in the deserts of sun valley. Now in my thirties I romanticize big shiny cities with gorgeous people and important things, but still can’t shake the love of the not having it. The not being inside of it. Being able to gawk at it. Contrast. Watching how that plays out in my adult relationships. Watching how the fabric of my personality has started to form as being sort-of blue collar. And kindof resenting it, because i “never escaped it.” And don’t want to. Like I am forever inside this pretty purgatory that will never allow me to fully arrive. Like it’s the contrast that fuels this need to shift shapes into things. Like the voice of the relentless muse was never saying come over here; it was just saying look around. Sea Peach is that. It’s the not being inside of it. A fucking sonic pipe dream. A reach for living by the ocean, a reach for a kindof love that my generation is too self aware or sarcastic to fully grasp. Like time is scraping the stickiness off of romantic sincerity. But the costume sure is fun to twirl around in. Maybe that’s just getting older. Maybe that’s just life. Maybe, that’s just me. But Sea Peach punches above its weight. It fully teases the album - earnest and maximalist and will have people grooving and smiling and smushing their faces and absolutely rolling their eyes.
