One thing about my events, we will get the job done professionally and on time, but we’ll also laugh, connect, and enjoy the process together. I believe a great vendor team works best when there’s good energy, teamwork, and genuine connection behind the scenes. Before guests arrived for Dola’s 40th, setup was already complete, vendors were relaxed, having fun, and getting ready to welcome guests professionally. We were all waiting for that one moment… when he would walk in and realize what was happening. The energy in the room said it all. A good man deserves to be celebrated. My husband is not one for birthdays. If it were up to him, it would be just another regular day with a few people around and that’s it. But me? I believe moments like this should be honored properly. So I got to work… and I had just one month to pull everything together. I knew exactly what would make him happy. Not a loud party, not a crowd of strangers, but a room filled with love. Family. Close friends. The kind of people who truly matter to him. That “living room” feeling he loves, just elevated and intentional. Planning this was not easy. There were a lot of moving parts, a lot of coordination, and plenty of moments where I had to pause and just breathe. But seeing everything come together made it all worth it. And then came the best part… the surprise. The look on his face when he walked in, completely unaware, and saw everyone gathered for him. People who showed up from all over the world just to celebrate him. That moment right there, I will never forget. Afolabi is a man who keeps his circle small, but the love around him is deep.
