This body of work is about the ways we extract from nature to engage in human ritual…. The bag just looks like it’s right where it belongs/trash when outside, you can’t really see the scale. see you on the 24th xxx

Filled w happiness to collab with the Front team, participating artists, & Ariana. Also @ratt__trap install magician 𓇢𓆸Show (and my window at Las Americas Mall!) are up until May 9th!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~𓇢𓆸Growing up in San Diego, a border city, our neighbors/communities have always been vital and vibrant. We need to protect each other at all costs, as it’s clear those with power will not. Full statement on last slide𓇢𓆸𓇢𓆸𓇢𓆸. Here’s an excerpt: “This giant seed packet sculpture is an imagined blend of wild flowers representing the many plants that thrive in both Tijuana and San Diego—growing, blooming and unaffected by borders.….I imagine who walks on the streets of our neighboring cities, and the objects we leave behind without noticing. The lone butterfly clip that slips out of your hair, the discarded shell of a sunflower seed snack, the hello kitty bandaid that unsticks from your knee and gets smooshed into the sidewalk. The little, insignificant markers of humanity we absentmindedly lose that leave behind a story or impression.”
Made a charm necklace in the style of @habibithing Loved doing this commission!!! Loved imagining what natural stone and drippy silver metal feel like large . Loved using epoxy and foam and cardboard and plastic to replicate materials from the earth. Thanks Rafi and go visit them at west coast craft in the bay next weekend

That magic beam of light was truly giving₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧. A big bejeweled golden crown for this year’s @fairylandca Pride celebration ₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊ I also got to collab w drag star @veritas_22@rebelkingsoakland AGAIN for this!! Which was sparkly n so fun as usual ~~~
For about half a year, separate from restoration painting, Fairyland has contracted me for fabrication, made maybe 20 props for them so far! Over the next few weeks, they’ll be highlighted on here in an attempt to look back & own work I’ve done in the recent past

Inspired by the history of BABS gallery building (a former flower shop, s/o @bestbudfloral 💐), Ari’s show features large sculptures of discarded objects that once served a pivotal role in ritual or interaction. A rainbow rose boutonniere, missing juice box straw, crumpled plastic thank you bag- trash that’s significant when given space and attention.
A self taught sculptor, Ari transforms accessible materials into playful oversized installations, exploring how we use objects (whether picked from nature or the dollar store) to self-soothe, self-identify, tell stories, and create connection.

Three Flower Chairs in a tiny vitrine for @oaklandmuseumca x @fairylandca ⊹₊⟡⋆’Fairyland @ 75, a Legacy of Magic’ exhibition runs until December 2025⊹₊⟡⋆ All artists were asked to make a miniature artwork influenced by an icon in the park. Flowers for Gina and Luke’s wedding in mid November. They sent me a photo of a vintage seed packet of California native wild flowers as a reference. Poppies, Blazing Stars, Baby Blue Eyes and daisies greeted guests at the entrance to their home, where they graciously invited us to celebrate their new family. Orchid Throne for magical @naikamusic 🕸️ This massive piece was designed and conceptualized by @ohmylorrr 🕸️ I assisted in fabrication alongside @tiffany_youforia with Lorr guiding the way! Her vision and drive led to us creating this in only 4 days (from sourcing materials, fabricating, transporting & installing!!) So so grateful to help actualize this orchid into existence. Such a fun wild and powerful project & team 💧🕸️
