The year is 2028, and in the interest of balancing the deficit, the President of the United States sells Hawai‘i to a tech billionaire to turn it into a Freedom City. This new owner has developed a handy app, and you can have a heaven on Earth with security, prosperity, wealth, innovation, and morality, and all it requires is a little surveillance for the helpful algorithms. Against this backdrop, a group of estranged childhood friends reconnect to investigate the sudden death of their friend group's leader, which seems to be connected to the change happening in Hawai’i. This is your new future: welcome to Paradise 1.

I was hoping to share this on July 4th but I missed the deadline haha, but I'm announcing my next personal project, Welcome to Paradise 1, a sci-fi dystopian drama set in Hawai’i. While I won't release it for a while, I'm doing heavy research and development and would like to start releasing pages sometime next year. This is a really important story to me and will explore themes of friendship, boyhood, colonialism, radicalization, authoritarianism, and more.
I'll likely post more concept art in the coming months, but felt this was a good time to share what I'm working on!
