A couple of days ago I had the honor to photograph Dr. Gabor Maté @gabormatemd a personal hero. He is a world-renowned expert on addiction, stress, and childhood development, and most importantly, a compassionate approach to humanity. In honor of the originals natives of America (the continent). Portrait of Cristina Calderón, a Unesco Living Human Treasure. She is the last full blooded native Yagan (nomad indigenous people that lived in the south of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, between the Beagle Channel and the Cape Horn) and last native speaker of the Yagan language. As Eduardo Galeano beautifuly said it: “ in 1492 the original natives discovered they were Indians , they discovered they lived in America, they discovered they were naked, they discovered the sin existed, they discovered they due obedience to a king and a queen from another world and they due obedience to a god from another sky” En honor a los pueblos originarios este es el retrato de la señora Cristina Calderón, la última indígena perteneciente a la tribu de los Yaganes, indígenas que habitaban el extremo sur de la Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego entre el canal Beagle y el Cabo de Hornos. Fotógrafo documental independiente chileno, con base en Nueva York y Santiago. Durante una década colaboró con los talleres de National Geographic, trabajando junto a referentes internacionales de la fotografía. Es cofundador de @Statementarts , una organización sin fines de lucro que apoya a jóvenes de escasos recursos a través del arte, la música, el teatro, la escritura y la fotografía. Su obra abarca proyectos documentales, sociales y comerciales en América y otros contextos globales. Ha publicado en medios como The New York Times y Vogue Latin America, realizado exposiciones internacionales y editado varios libros. Es también fundador de Statement Arts, dedicada a la formación de jóvenes fotógrafos. A small tribute to a great Chilean artist that just left us…Photographs are memories and they help the mind to remember…I visited Hector Noguera in El Teatro Camino, the one he created at the Comunidad Ecological en Peñalolen, Chile…it was a cold winter day, and he was wearing a very cozy sweater, kind of the ones grandmas make…A lovely smile welcomed me…I told him that I would like to photograph him on his sweater and then playing with his coat…He was into…A sweet energy all around…An artist, a legend❤️#hectornoguera

He is one of the many artist from the Phare Cambodian Circus in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The circus stems from a school that trains young underprivileged Cambodian both artistically and academically. Phare performers use theater, music, dance and modern circus to tell uniquely Cambodian stories where foreign visitors, in every situation can find understanding and human connection.
