Had the pleasure of working as Location Sound Mixer on my 17th feature, “Laura Louise” as we wrapped up 2025. Can’t say anything about the story or about release, other than it’s quite the wild ride. I can, however, share a little behind-the-scenes pic of me doing an ankle strap Mic-Up of our Business-First, No-Games Cop, @denisegsanchez ! Shout out to @duaneedwardsdirector for having me on again and directing awesome feature film #2!

It’s been a busy pre-Holiday month for Argonaut mixing a feature documentary as well as scoring an epic horror film! I couldn’t be happier with the work we’ve done and am fighting the urge to share the banger of a score we composed (with the help of some very talented session musicians!) I’ll follow up as soon as I’m able :) big thanks to the friends and collaborators who helped us make magic and thanks to the talented film makers for trusting in our work! Happy Holidays!

When working on Docs (in freezing cold weather) you have to think of lav placement quick and on the fly. Especially when there’s not really a great working area- and you just find yourself in the middle of the field and now someone needs a wire. With more time (and warmth) I would have taped or clipped the wire mic in the hat, but in order to get the job done quick (don’t want the subject hatless or coatless for too long in single digit degrees) I decided to place the mic on his head and gently put the hay back on over it. With a little adjusting to get the mic’s tip near the brim of the hat facing downward at the subject’s mouth we ended up getting a clean lav channel! I was also able to hid the Transmitter in their hood here and it was completely invisible! They never even had to take their hood off. Gotta love the wonders of Laving. I Lav my job!

Had a big presentation today for the Documentary I’m currently on. I had a suspicion this would be the case, but sure enough, I wasn’t allowed access to the back of the venue’s sound rack to easily tap in there and get a clean recording from the Wireless Handheld Mic. So this meant plan B: Plant Mics on deck and a Lav that has to sound REALLY good because the plant mics won’t- they’re only backups. The Button-Lav technique proved to once again reign supreme. Presentation sounded great! Lav wasn’t visible. Happy clients and a job well done.

Great doc shoot today at @starvedrockstatepark I’ve never been here in the Winter and I think I like it even more with snow on the tree branches. It’s a privilege to work with such great people day in and out in the film and media industry. It helps when everyone loves what they do. As the holidays approach- it’s reminder to enjoy things, both big and small :)
