Scent Art Festival 2026 @scentartfestival is May 6-10 in Riga, Latvia @veldze.radosarupnica ! Delighted to take part with ‘Pitch Pine Pollen: A Transforming Forest in Image + Scent’ including the wild gathered perfume and a standing booklet/ object with photographs of the forest over the years. The olfactory journey began with the sweet springtime scent of pine pollen from surviving branches of trees decimated by climate-change induced beetles, in the Long Island Pine Barrens. Adding other aromatics from the forest, the composition invites sensory connection with this changing landscape. The Scent Art Festival celebrates global, community‑based exploration of scent in contemporary art, highlighting multisensory creativity. The theme for 2026 is ‘Looking Through the Fog of Uncertainty’. Big thanks to @sandrismurins @followzenose 🤍

Finding new treasures on every visit! ✨ 'Sound: The Weaver’ (11x17 archival pigment print on Hahnemuhle archival paper) A creek turned to spider hunting territory during a severe drought in upstate NY. Part of a series exploring transforming local landscapes over time . Lynne @ultraviolet_non_violent_ and I visit at dawn, in awe,the only time the webs are visible in the valley. The female orb spider spins different silks for weft and warp. At night she devours the web, and after an hour’s rest rebuilds her world anew, recycling the proteins, using yesterday’s exact anchors, attuned to land and wind. #everywomanbiennial2026 #art #nyc #SPECTALiA

Last weekend to see, and smell ‘Arachne: Spiderweb after Rain’ as part of the Artist in Residence 2025 group show at @woodstock_byrdcliffe_guild Gallery hours Sat-Sun 12-5, closing reception Sunday May 25, 3-5 pm Thank you dear @air_byrdcliffe team and particularly Jen Dragon for including my work in this great show. ✨ The summer ‘24 drought upstate brought prolific spider activity to a thinning local creek, covering grasses and a small trees in intricate webs. As part of the residency I loved visiting the spot at dawn, the first sunrays exposing the work of the spiders -and here the first rains. ✨ The scent brings the galactic abstraction to the senses, composed around Ginger Lily, wet ethereal wispy flowers woven thru creekside autumn grasses and rain. Ginger Lily, Saffron, Oak leaves, Sweet Clover, Iris Root, Sweet Flag Root. Locally infused plants: fallen Oak leaves at Byrdcliffe artist colony, creekside Wild Iris root. —- 11x17 in archival inkjet on Hahnemuhle paper, (edition of 8 + 2AP),perfume 6 ml.

A lil something spooky🕷️ 🤍Early October the spiders were still spinning the same webs i’d first seen and recorded in July. This day they were extra lovely with the fog behind and first sunrays. I’d seen the tree empty of webs after rains and cold and thought they might be done.. but they kept making the same webs between the same branches. Memorized and repeated like a crochet pattern or the way one’s hands make the same shape clay bowl. Soon I’m going to find out if they’re still on it! My project of following this pond and beaver activity, turned to the stream right off the pond and the spider palaces hanging above the water. (Water got so low with the drought the beavers may have jumped ship!) As for me just playing with share/spinning on here again ;) 🕸️💕 It was such a gift to be able to go often first thing in the morning the only time the webs were visible! as part of residency @air_byrdcliffe ✨
