Arella Plater draws from intergenerational memory and environmental fables in a Central Saint Martins piece rooted in The Gumnut Babies, a 1918 Australian children’s book by May Gibbs. With its delicate white palette nodding to Suffragette history, the design threads together themes of protection, both of nature and of voice. Echoing the book’s blend of botanical fantasy and ecological care, Plater’s work reimagines nostalgia as a quietly radical fashion language.
