The real glow up is health. June 2023 An anxiety and depressive episode forced me to pause and take my health seriously. September 2023 Diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and Graves’ disease. November 2023 I started moving my body every day. Nothing fancy — just commitment. February 2024 I incorporated functional medicine. Visited a naturopathic doctor and completed comprehensive testing to understand which foods were triggering inflammation in my body. I adjusted my diet and began eating with intention. March 2026 320 days of exercise over the past two years. March 12, 2026 No more medication. (I actually stopped the medication in October. When I told my new family doctor — a Black doctor, which I have to say loudly because representation in healthcare still matters in Canada 🇨🇦 — she said: “You can’t just do that. I’m sending you for blood tests.”) The results came back normal. FUCK hyperthyroidism. For me the glow up was not surgeries or quick fixes. No judgment to anyone who chooses that path — it’s just not my lane. My glow up was food, movement, and discipline. Women deserve to know that taking care of your body is powerful medicine. Health is the quiet glow up nobody talks about. I fought something and won through discipline. As we close out quarter 1…I’ve been reflecting on learning. Not the version we like to talk about; the real version. Two things can be true. You want growth. You resist what growth requires. Learning is easy to talk about. Change is harder to choose. Learning doesn’t fail because organizations don’t invest. It falls short when it isn’t relevant, isn’t applied, or isn’t supported. Recent insights from Gallup reinforce that learning only matters when it translates into behaviour. Growth may be offered; but learning is chosen. Guests were welcomed into an immersive, hands-on experience, learning how Natural Love nourishes diverse hair textures, protective styles, and chemically treated hair. Our mission was simple: to empower every guest with the knowledge, confidence, and techniques needed to care for their hair and scalp with love and intention. In honour of the ingredients that make Natural Love so special, our culinary menu was thoughtfully crafted to mirror the product’s plant-based organic formula—inviting guests to feed their hair and delight their senses through small bites inspired by the hero botanicals. Staying true to our values, a portion of all proceeds from the evening was donated to support communities in Argyle Mountain, Westmoreland, affected by Hurricane Melissa—a meaningful reminder that self-care and community care go hand in hand.
