JOHN YOUNG | ART COLLECTOR - PULL FOCUS John Young features in the current Issue of Art Collector @artcollectormagazine in anticipation for his upcoming solo exhibition A Changing Sky at ARC ONE Gallery. "In the painting North Road Travelling III, John Young creates what might be described as a painting of atmosphere itself - a work where form dissolves into pure luminosity, where the act of looking becomes an exercise in patient attention." - words by Robert Buratti Young's exhibition A Changing Sky will be open 27 May-4 July with the opening reception on Thursday 4 June 6-8pm. @johnyoungstudio IMAGES: 1. PAT BRASSINGTON | Last weeks to view CODED BLOOMS, MAPh @maph_photography 📍Museum of Australian Photography (MAPh) 📆 Until May 24, 2026 Curator: Angela Connor 'PAT BRASSINGTON's images are as enigmatic as the artist herself. Over several decades, she has developed a distinct visual language in which the image becomes a site of psychological pressure rather than representation. Bodies, flowers and domestic interiors reoccur throughout her work, not as symbols to be decoded but as unstable forms that register sensation, memory and disturbance.' - Excerpt from MAPh exhibition text. Email [email protected] or DM us for enquiries about BRASSINGTON's available works. IMAGES: 1. BRASSINGTON, 'Annunciation #22', 2025, Pigment print, edition of 6 + 2 A/P, 60 x 44 cm. 2. CYRUS TANG | SLOW READ, Hawthorn Town Hall Gallery @cyrus.tang @townhallgallery @boroondara_arts 📍Hawthorn Town Hall Gallery 📆 Until 25 July 2026 Presented in partnership with Melbourne Writers Festival. CYRUS TANG's work, 'The Modern World Encyclopaedia vol 2’, is on display in the recently opened group exhibition, 'Slow Read' at Hawthorn Town Hall Gallery. TANG's work is a presentation of the partially cremated pages of a 1936 encyclopaedia, alongside its hardbound cover. The sculpture refers to collective cultural knowledge and its fragility. In 2020 the work was one of four winners of the inaugural McClelland National Small Sculpture Award. In 'Slow Read', 'many of the featured artworks have been created with source materials from the artists’ own extensive personal collections, where subject and thematic focused text and imagery have been lifted from culture magazines, art history books, archives and more'. - Excerpt from exhibition text. JACKY REDGATE | Wollongong Art Gallery (WAG), 'The Architecture of Feeling' 📍Wollongong Art Gallery @wollongongartgallery 📆 Exhibiting until 21 June, 2026. JACKY REDGATE's work, 'Flowers and Frolics #7', is currently being exhibited at Wollongong Art Gallery as part of their exhibition, 'The Architecture of Feeling'. The work was also shown in the 2025 Wollongong Art Prize and was then acquired by the gallery. REDGATE's 'Flowers and Frolics #7' is one of her series of photographs that stage playful, hallucinatory scenes using Mylar mirror—a reflective polyester film that warps and distorts reflections. Carefully composed still life flower arrangements featuring common household blooms such as gerberas, roses, poppies, irises, and sunflowers are paired with kitschy vases, ceramic figurines, and vegetables. These objects are arranged on gleaming, patterned fabrics and lace doilies across tabletops, resulting in surreal displays that hover between domestic charm and optical illusion. Email [email protected] or DM us for enquiries about JACKY REDGATE's available works. IMAGES: 1. Installation of REDGATE's, 'Flowers and Frolics #7', on display at WAG. 2. MARINA ROLFE | Memo Exhibition review Marina Rolfe’s current exhibition The Edge of Holding has been thoughtfully reviewed by Clare Fuery-Jones for Memo Review @memo_review @lookseemuse @marinarolfe "Each rewards slow-looking; subtler shades appear, textures reveal themselves and different shapes coalesce. The longer I look, the more I see, the more I feel. I keep looking." "You will have different recollections and responses to these works, but their quiet power is how Rolfe’s precise and careful mark-making have created compositions with breadth and appeal that can simultaneously turn into each viewer’s private world.
