Completing our series on unbuilt projects from 2025 is a home designed around a tree. With all the constraints a large protected tree may seem to pose, we saw it as a positive and designed an L shaped home with the tree as the focal point,
Now building on the Lot next door, we still hope to see this home come to light in 2026.

Unbuilt 2025 - another concept we were sad to say never saw the light of day was our 'Sanctuary house' in the rugged hills near Toodyay.
With extremes of heat and cold, and prone to bushfires, this home was all about providing a physical and spiritual 'sanctuary' from the elements.

As the year rushes towards an end, we look back on some of our favourite projects that never made it to site, but we love them anyway!
Starting with Kerensa, a cluster of eco-buildings creating a family home on a sloping Lot in the Witchcliffe Ecovillage.
Maximising views while protecting from the elements through a series of courtyards, the home appears to rise out of the landscape towards the dam.
This one would have been something out of the ordinary, but there are lessons we can learn from all the projects we do, not just the ones that see the light of day.

BASSENDEAN - pleased to have received Planning Approval for our latest custom design. Featuring a central solar courtyard, bag washed brickwork , polished concrete / cork floors and exposed timber cladding the home sits in a natural setting characterised by large trees and wide verges.

Moody weekend staying in a #econest in the #witchcliffeecovillage . Walking around in a tee shirt and barefoot inside it’s a bit of a shock to open the door and realise it’s 12 degrees outside ! These high performance homes exceed our expectations in thermal comfort and cost almost nothing to run. But above all they are just really nice to live in .
