Another Incredible Adventure for ARC Bamboo
John has returned from his pursuit of Brazilian Peacock Bass and what a journey it was.
A houseboat expedition traveled over 250 miles up the Amazon River and its remote tributaries, placing him deep in true wilderness, the heart of peacock bass country.
Six unforgettable days fishing with Peacock Fishing & Adventures and guide Eduardo Crespo meant long days on the water — often 100 casts a day, many stretching 50–70 feet from a skiff.
And the wildlife? Just as breathtaking as the fishing.

It’s been a busy summer here at ARC Fly Rods! In the heat of June and July, we’ve been crafting a few new bamboo fly rods just in time for the upcoming fall fishing season.
🎣 First up: our brand-new 3-piece, 2wt 7’0” bamboo rod, designed for chasing brookies and wild mountain rainbows in tight, upper elevation streams. Last year, we hiked up Snowbird Creek in North Carolina and knew we needed something light, responsive, and perfect for remote mountain waters. We’re adding a rattan handle and choosing the perfect guide thread color now—stay tuned for more photos!
🌄 This fall, we’re heading back to Colorado to fish the canyon section of the Arkansas River—not to bungee jump off the bridge, but to chase post-spawn browns in deep canyon pools.
To prep, we’re both building a 3-piece 7/8wt bamboo rod ideal for swinging streamers at heavy trout. I’ve already finished a two-piece version and love the feel of a 7wt full-sink line on it. The rod also handles hopper-dropper setups like a dream.
