We had a fun time at this year's WA Recreation and Parks Conference in Tacoma! It was great to see so many Parks and Rec folks, from Seattle to Vancouver to Spokane and Bellingham. WA State thrives on our outdoor time, and with summer almost here - we're so lucky to have so many wonderful parks with so many dedicated staff and managers. We'll see you next year in Spokane!

Evoke Studio and ARC Architects have been collaborating with Tubman Health for a new wellness center in south Seattle. The façade of the building was inspired by Harriet Tubman’s shawl and the patterning found in traditional African and Indigenous fabrics and motifs. Healers across many cultures have worn shawls or wraps. We have used the shape found in many of these motifs as part of the shawl that will wrap the façade. The shawl symbolizes embrace, warmth, and protection — all qualities we want this center to hold.

We’ve celebrated several exciting milestones this past week including a ribbon cutting, a project completion, and a topping off! First up: the @voaww Lynnwood Neighborhood Center marked its completion with a ribbon cutting last week. GLY wrapped up construction at the end of last year, and since then, the center has been buzzing as teams finalize its many amenities. This new community hub brings together multiple organizations to provide a wide range of services—from child care and food support to physical and mental health resources, technology assistance, teen spaces, and large event areas open to the public.
Cheers to what’s ahead for this special place and the meaningful impact it will have on so many.

The City of Monroe is excited to be moving into their new City Hall and Municipal Court. The City’s therapeutic court program provides community-focused support and social services to aid recovery for participants. With the City’s enthusiasm, the integration of indoor planters in combination with access to natural daylight brings principles of biophilic design to this public facility. ARC is delighted to have collaborated with the engineering and construction team to bring this vision to life.
We have been delighted to work with the community of South Whidbey to bring to life their vision for a new Aquatic Recreation Center at the beloved Community Park. Together with a collaborative design and engineering team, we are looking forward to beginning construction in 2025! Stay tuned for more updates as we move along.

2024 has been a busy year for the team, so join us as we reflect on some highlights!
This year we got to see Puyallup’s newly renovated public restroom at Pioneer Park in full use through every season and local event, big and small. The existing 1990 building served the community well for many years, but could not keep up with growing demand. This update doubled the capacity for the men’s and women’s restrooms, while also adding 2 brand new family restrooms. Taking cues from the Pioneer Park Pavilion and Public Library that are co-located at the park, the design features a shed roof and exterior finishes that visually connect all of these site buildings. Clerestory windows, skylights, and lightwells bring in an abundance of natural light to the spaces, and a custom brick pattern accents the façade with a fun touch.
We’re grateful to the whole team who brought this project together, and we look forward to seeing how the community continues to engage with it and the park as a whole.

Celebrating a successful groundbreaking in Lynnwood, with the help of @voaww and @migcommunity this week.
The Lynnwood Neighborhood Center will provide the community with opportunities for recreation, special events, community meetings, training, adult day programs, youth activities, and support services. We are excited to see how different generations come together and build community in this space!
