Back in 2017 we built a queer multicade called The DreamboxXx filled with games by queer NYC developers. It’s now residing at Purgatory in Ridgewood and we’re celebrating this Wednesday August 6th with a launch party! Come check out the cabinet and play some other arcade games! The DreamboxXx was built for Dreamhouse, a now defunct venue run by @the_spectrum_bk and we are so happy it can continue to find new life in other spaces!

New to play in our lobby: WeatherSys Admin (2024– ), a collection of six unique weather-connected games housed in a custom video arcade cabinet. Imagine you are a new hire at W.E.T.S. (Weather Event Tools Systems), a fictional non-governmental organization (NGO) tasked with responding to global ecological crises through surreal but routine deskbound assignments. Your job: to respond to weather emergencies by playing through six games, addressing phenomena ranging from meteor storms to tactical turkeys.
Each game integrates real-time environmental data—including the Museum’s own 11106 ZIP Code—to generate dynamic, live, location-based features within the games and the launcher.

Try it out next time you visit MoMI!     Produced by @arcadecommons under the 2024 Brooklyn Arts Council Grant @bkartscouncil   Presented in collaboration with @wondervillenyc     Games include:   METEOR MONSOON  CLOUD GOBBLERS  WEATHER OR NOT
GRAVITY CYLINDER  MOPEBUG’S TURKEY EXTINCTION ACCELERATOR II  ALL NIGHT LONG    Games by ROBYSOFT, Emma Technology Cooperative, Carpet Dime Studios, Saga City Games, Kenji Jones, and Coswag & Runpril.

Many of you may be aware of recent changes in payment processor policy causing the delisting of certain "NSFW" content from Steam recently, and now those same pressures are coming for itch.io. You can read their full statement here: https://itch.io/updates/update-on-nsfw-content Unsurprisingly, this is not just about certain kinds of highly explicit adult content, but has also meant that a lot of marginalized creators are swept along with it. One notable affected work is Consume Me, an award winning project from Jenny Jiao Hsia, which contains no adult content but has been flagged for review because of the wide-reaching and vague policies put forth by Visa and Mastercard. This doesn't just affect games on the platform, but books, zines, comics, etc. It also has not just affected access, but has barred creators from payouts and receiving money they earned. Let's be clear: NSFW art is art and deserves to exist, and the campaign by Australian organization Collective Shout to make these policy changes is rooted in deep homophobia, transphobia, and a right-wing effort to destroy queer communities. It is no accident that draconian anti-sex work laws are also used to target queer people and our spaces. We would like to encourage our community members to consider signing the ACLU's petition against Mastercard: /petition/mastercard-sex-work-work-end-your-unjust-policy You can also contact corporate HQ for Visa and Mastercard here to demand a reversal of these policies: Mastercard (US): 1-800-627-8372 Mastercard (Global): 1-636-722-7111 Visa (US + Canada): 1-800-847-2911

Out now on Steam!! Dyebreaker is a high-intensity, 2v2 “air hockey platformer” inspired by the amazing colors of classic screen print poster art! Slam, sling and block dye-soaked pucks in ripping, fast-paced arcade action to drive your color to victory while outplaying your opponents! The first team to complete your screen-print is the winner! We love this game because even if you’re a beginner, the high-intensity action and teamwork-based strategy makes this game exciting. The arcade version is one of our favorite multiplayer games currently at @wondervillenyc . We’re so excited to finally be able to play this everywhere else through the official steam launch! What are you waiting for?! Get painted or dye trying! (Or try dyeing??) 🎨🧑‍🎨🕹️
