Another one of my visions turned into reality š so exciting to finally share this piece & to have equipment set-up at home!! I knew for some time now that I wanted this setup to be special and couldnāt fathom the idea of having everything around the house be so intentional and then have DJ gear and cabling just thrown around. It took this long because I didnāt want the bulkiness that came with a traditional booth.
I was on what felt like an *eternal* flight to LA and kept workshopping potential ideas, when I thought, what about something where the support system comes from the top vs the bottom⦠thatās it, a minimal concrete slab to go with the apartmentās industrial look, hung from the ceiling in our creative area. Easy enough, right?
So I made another shit sketch haha, & called
@arcabuild , I knew heād be the one to help me bring this to life. Surely enough, he landed that plane QUICK and told me I couldnāt rig a piece of concrete from my ceiling š¤£. I was hung up on the idea though. We took some time to sharpen up the design and into production we went, still aiming for a concrete aesthetic. It took a couple of tries to get the material and rods right; the material kept cracking, and the first rods allowed too much swing, but we got it.
Then
@nomadsoundsystems and
@oneeyedwill found the smallest cutest monitors, crushed the sound installation ensuring all the cables thru the rods for a clean look. Lastly, covering the rods in mirror plexiglass to hide everything and really give that floating effect. Couldnāt have done this without the talented humans that I get to call friends, shoutout to yaāll.
& there she finally is, in all her levitating glory š„¹š¤© ā Needless to ask, but, are we bringing back house parties in 2025?
