Please come by @vergeart to be apart of my project. I’ll keep dates and times posted on my story of when I’ll be in the studio. I am also available to schedule if those times don’t work.
Now on view in “Connected”, our sculpture exhibition with Pacific Rim Sculptors, is this compelling work, “Shell 08” by Sacramento-based artist Anthony Chavez.
You might think it is ceramic at first glance, but it’s actually made from polylactic plastic and created using 3D printing. Anthony chooses this process intentionally. He describes his approach as “examining the world through a binary eye,” often using his own body as a starting point to explore how we move through and relate to the spaces around us.
When we were jurying the show, this piece immediately felt like a strong fit for the theme of connection, 🤍 wouldn’t you agree?
The exhibition is on view through next Sunday - we are open today through Sunday, noon–5pm. Come see!

When jurying “Connected,” our new sculpture exhibition in partnership with Pacific Rim Sculptors, Anthony Chavez’s work stood out as a perfect match for the theme.
Anthony is a Sacramento-based sculptor who describes his process as “examining the world through a binary eye.” He shares that he “uses himself as the subject in order to investigate the architecture that the human body provides and the spaces that it occupies.”
Completed investigations are then constructed by 3D printing, which he says keeps his artist’s hand at bay.
This fantastic piece, “Shell 08,” is made from polylactic plastic (which, at first glance, looks like ceramic) and measures 10 × 15 × 8 inches.
We are open today through Sunday, noon–5pm. Come see!
