Welcome, Clare!
This National Nurses Week, we proudly celebrate and appreciate our nurses.
You give so much of yourselves every dayâyour time, your power, your compassionâand you do it with such grace. Thank you for your steady hands, your constant kindness, and for being the true heartbeat of healthcare at Arbor Acres.
We are grateful for all that you do and for the difference you make each and every day.
The Mousketeers, Fred Flintstone, Mr. Ed, Maria, Sonny & Cher, Dolly Partonâand so many more, including tributes to our country's 250th birthdayâwere in the house this week for the Sharps & Flats Show Choirâs spring concert, The Soundtrack of Our Lives.
Four performances. Four packed audiences.
Laughter, tears, and music chosen by choir members brought memories flooding back.
Such joy! Such fun!
Thank you, Art Bloom, for giving so much of yourself to these productions.
What an honor! Heidi Day, Erin Perkins, and Jolie Shafer from our wellness and dining teams were recently invited to participate in an exclusive Think Tank in Charlotte, hosted by the International Council on Active Aging.
The gathering focused on shaping the future of wellness and culinary excellence in senior living.
We are proud of these three leaders for being selected to share their expertise, insight, and visionâcontributions that help shape the future of active aging, a mission Arbor Acres proudly supports.
Residents were betting on fun, and their Kentucky Derby party didnât disappoint! Fabulous hats, sharp jackets and ties, and plenty of laughter made the celebration extra specialâand wow, could you have asked for a more exciting race?
We celebrated the opening of Portraits, Patterns and Prints todayâan incredible show by Grace Rockafellow in our Galleria, a valued member of our offâcampus residency program, Advantage. Artists like Grace remind us how creativity enriches daily life at Arbor Acres, inspiring us all to live more artfully.
A visual arts teacher with a deep curiosity for exploration, Grace works across many mediumsâfrom portrait sketching and pastels to watercolors, innovative and unconventional techniques, and printmaking. Her passion shines through every piece.
As Grace beautifully puts it: âThere is something magical about pulling print from an inked plate and slowly watching an image emerge.â
Next month, Lajuan Wardlowâa familiar face to Arbor Acres who worked here in the 1990sâwill step into a moment years in the making as his Habitat for Humanity home is dedicated.
His new home is one of three sideâbyâside homes proudly sponsored by Arbor Acres, with residents lending their time, energy, and generous heartsâhelping build homes and provide meals for volunteers along the way.
In recognition of that commitment, Habitat honored Arbor Acres with a plaque, presented by Chief Program Officer/Interim Executive Director Paola Candelaria to President/CEO Andrew Applegate and Board Chair Clare Jordan.
For Lajuan, this house means everything. Itâs a place for his daughters to call home, to grow, to dreamâproof that believing in yourself can truly change your future.
And thatâs what itâs all about. @habitatforsyth
Congratulations to Bluhe Jackson â Artist of the Quarter!
No job is too small for Bluhe! From vacuuming and moving furniture to repairing equipment and even dusting, Bluhe jumps in wherever heâs neededâand does it all with the very best attitude and a smile that never fades.
Bluhe loves to smile because he loves making our residents smileâand it shows every single day. He truly embodies Artist values and behaviors and is a shining example of what it means to serve with heart, pride, and positivity.
Bluhe, this recognition is well deserved. Congratulations!
Adventure was at the top of the itinerary as residents enjoyed a memorable overnight getaway to Lynchburg, VA!
During Virginia's Historic Garden Week, residents toured beautiful private homes and lush gardens in the Rivermont Historic District, enjoying the beauty, history, and stories behind each space.
The journey continued with a visit to Poplar Forest, one of only two homes Thomas Jefferson designed for his personal useâan inspiring step back in time that brought history to life.
From new places to new perspectives, outings enrich the mind and spirit, creating memories that last long after the bags are unpacked.
