Back on the hedges! 🍃 We took 4 feet off the tops and now are just skimming up the sides ! It’s been 4 years since our last visit here, so the hedge branched out and new holes have appeared . Yearly trimming into fresh growth would lead to a thicker hedge over time! Not every client has the funds or need for a yearly trim, and we would say 3-4 years is the MAX gap to have between visits. The longer you wait, the sparser and wider the hedge gets! If your hedges are close to a pool or structure, you need a yearly trim! #hedgeucation #hedgetrimming #greenindustry #paysagiste

When a cedar hedge has not been trimmed in a long time, it’s worth the risk of reduction this late in the season to prune off excessive growth. This hedge had already been mangled by snow and ice and any extra years here of the same could snap out some other major sections..

We will remember this one forever. Added safety precautions and very difficult rigging made the original time estimate look like a joke, but we all went home.
The exposure to risk still felt disgusting for the team all day but it also felt great to be keeping the surroundings safe from this soon to fail monster trunk.
Remember, if you mess up your estimate as a contractor, it’s better for you and your crew to get home (alive) than we be in an insane rush. Money is just money.
