fever dream color studies poster illo that didn’t push thru for a gig last year. revised it by tracing onto the old drawing and just did patchwork editing digitally. the ballpoint pen texture remains crisp :)

when i think about april, i think about flowers :) found a random calligraphy brush pack in my files last week and it’s gonna be my summer obsession 🧎‍♂️ the ribbons i could draw with the brushes is making me crazy !!!!! couldn’t help but incorporate an element of it into the letters too also, flipping that B to become a P was fun

custom type for @jennypjavier ’s single, Pacific 🌀🤍 i’ve been learning a couple of new interesting things as i collaborate with jenny on some customs :’) for this track, a notable thing she wanted the type to express was a quality of sadness. to me, sadness meant serifs and scripts, but to jenny, it meant words that looked loose i have a habit of drawing my letterforms too tightly in general—perhaps it reflects my personality that likes to ascertain. so for this work, it was a “leap” for me to draw the letters as minimally structured or joint where strokes usually meet. another cool challenge i experienced was choosing between proper case or upper case for this work, with consideration to its repeating letters. the word “PACIFIC” repeated two sets of letters, and repeating letters particularly make the flow of the word’s structure more obvious to me. really steered clear from going full uppercase because letters I-F-I stuck out like a sore thumb being so damn angular smack in the middle 😭 kinda stressed me out drawing a study for it, i gave up in the middle lol (yall can probably see that in the studies slide) anyway yea just wanted to share these 💭 and funny enough now its the i-f-i ligature that looks sexiest to me in the final work 😮‍💨🙏 I Love U Letters…❤️ background photo is a tiny edit of elyu’s sunset i took a week ago (thanks again to jenny for tapping me!!! i’m so excited to share with y’all what else we got cooking… AND STREAM HER BEAAUUUuuuTIFUL SONGS)

one of my WOATs (Words Of All Time)

hello enero 👋 happy new year fellas 😁🖤 lettered by hand with sumi ink (? ang sabi sa shopee.. XD) then adjusted digitally. did an overlay on a footage i took in november just to test things out, new explorations ~ some comments from friends: (1) lesly agrees that the first study kinda reads as “Ener”, so i made a new one with an O that looks more distinctly separate. still badly wanted to retain the swirl though haha (2) for geline, the first study kerning is better, “ne” ligatures on both look cool… she said she likes that the first version looks like an abstract figure, something you can stare at. i did quite like the second one better (3) Shrek? 😭 ang sabi ni aina HAHAHA. mukha raw kasing S yung letter E ng second study because of how it’s curved hoping we all enjoy this 2025… frankly i’ve never been this excited welcoming a new year. i hope you are too

custom lettering for my juniors’ capstone thesis film: Fruition of Love (@fruitionoflove )—a short film that explores life after loss and time as a symptom of love 🤍 congrats and huge thanks for allowing me to be a part of this project 🥹 @sapokanikans @_lunarivera @marinafilart the lettering is anchored to one of the film’s motifs that is foliage, and references my usual style of script lettering which always feels meditative to do. i was also given the opportunity to design the short film’s official poster, as well as the title cards! the poster background is a collage of lilies (grief) and two glasses (the widower and his late wife), finished with a digital emulation of cyanotype printing to play around again with the other visual motifs of light and shadow. lastly, i didn’t know i’d enjoy typesetting this much for film credits until i did this project hehe. thanks again girls for having me 🖤
