🔦✨ Faculty Spotlight ✨🔦 Say hello to Dr. Florian Gargaillo, our Associate Professor of English! When asked what his favorite class was to have taught, Dr. Gargaillo said his LGBTQ Literature across Cultures course. His advice for students? “College is the perfect time to read widely and explore all the topics and questions that you are passionate about. The ideas that you encounter in literature can resonate with you and offer comfort years down the line in unexpected ways.” Dr. Gargaillo says that he teaches classes in modern poetry and LGBTQ studies. “My first book looked at how poets echo political cliches to make us more alert to the corruption of public speech. I also just finished a second book about how queer poets have used allusion to better understand themselves and create an alternative literary history.” We appreciate Dr. Gargaillo and the expertise he brings to our department and the classroom. #FacultySpotlight #Literature #English #writing #reading #poetry #BeAGov #austinpeaystateuniversity #LetsGoPeay #artsandlettersapsu #apsu_langlit #apsu #collegeofartsandletters #LangLit #departmentoflanguagesandliteratures
