Meet Sox, our #FosterFriday pup! 🖤 This sweet boy is truly the total package—he knows commands like sit, let’s go, and leave it, and even comes when called (gold star student ⭐️). Sox is the perfect mix of chill, loving, and playful. He’s amazing on walks (just wait until you see his adorable little trot 🐾), great with other dogs and cats, and always ready to hop in the front seat for his next adventure. His ideal evening? Cuddled up on the couch with a soft toy, soaking up belly rubs and love. Fair warning… those puppy dog eyes are very hard to resist. Ready to fall in love? Gorgeous golden Sunflower 🌻 is our #PetOfTheWeek this week, and she's more than ready for some quality playtime with YOU! As POTW, her adoption fee is WAIVED through next Tuesday, May 19! Here's what she has to say 📣: Count on me to bring all the rays of sunshine 🌞 into your life! My adorable lopsided Dorito ears are always at the ready to catch the sound of an upcoming adventure. I'm a 4-year-old medium-sized girl who believes every day is a new opportunity to explore, and I can't wait to show you my ginormous happy smile in person! I'm a "let’s go!" kind of dog. My absolute favorite things in the world are my stuffies -- I love having two or three at once and will happily toss them in the air to entertain myself, but I have even more fun when you’re part of the game. Whether I'm playing keep-away with you or busy investigating a new scent with my curious nose, I promise to bring lots of enthusiasm to our time together! And when it's time to relax, we can loll in the sun or snuggle on the couch. While I love being around my people, I also have a nice independent streak. I'm happy to do my own thing while you do yours, as long as we have plenty of outdoor adventures on the calendar! I’d do great with a person or family who’s looking for a loyal explorer to join them on sunset hikes 🌄, walks, and backyard play sessions. Ready to see if we’re the perfect match? Meet Sky ✨🐾 Sweet, playful, affectionate, smart, and super endearing — Sky is ready to find her home. Here’s what her foster family says about her 💛 “Sky is a curious, young pup (estimated to be ~15 months old) who’s always ready to explore and just as happy to settle in for couch snuggles afterward. Sky has been eager to investigate every part of our house, including vigorously sniffing the floorboards and repeatedly jumping into an empty bathtub. Outside of the house, she enjoyshunting for lizards in rockpiles and keeping an eye out for squirrels. And she approaches her daily walks like a fulltime sniffing assignment, taking in every smell along the way. Sky is eager to please and really looks to her people for direction. She’s cratetrained, housetrained, and clickertrained, and her food motivation means she learns quickly. She has already mastered sit, down, shake, touch, and more. She rides well in the car and handles baths and nail trims like a pro. Sky is wonderfully affectionate. She’s a total snuggle bug who will happily flop all 45 pounds of herself against you – or on top of you – and then immediately start snoring.” So, what are you waiting for? “Sky”‘s the limit for all the love and kisses you’ll get when you adopt her! Meet Ribbit 🐸🥔 — APS of Durham’s longest-staying dog, and honestly? Durham’s most underrated running buddy. This round little guy joined me at the @bullcityrunning Bull City Run Club event and absolutely HELD IT DOWN. We ran the 3-mile route — okay, we took a shortcut — but he started and ended strong regardless 😄 And he sealed the deal with his signature sploot and a smoothie from @happyandhale . Sir Ribbit does not skip the post-run recovery. 🙌 He’s a 4-year-old, ~60 lb boy currently in foster with @durhampaws , and he has come SO far. He came to APS after being surrendered from a home with two other dogs, and it’s clear his start to life wasn’t easy. He’s crate and potty trained. He can be anxious, and he wears his heart on his sleeve — but he is trying every single day, and the progress he’s made in foster is real and it’s beautiful. Ribbit loves other dogs and might actually thrive with a canine roommate to help him feel secure. That said, his energy isn’t for everyone — slow intros are always the move. He’s also looking to shed a few pounds, so a running partner like YOU would be perfect 😄 What he needs: patience, consistency, someone who celebrates small wins, and ideally a confident dog friend to show him the ropes.
