I basically realised I wasn’t being fully fulfilled by what I was creating and posting. I let myself take as much time as I needed to overcome burnout and reimagine my work. I f*#%!ing love this look and it’s all because I gave myself time. This is your PSA to give yourself the space away from creating in order to create bigger and better things. Watch me style my friend for a 90’s hip hop/RnB charity ball. I had so much fun doing this, and creating a look that not only fit the vibe but was something he really loved. This ended up being my favourite and most meaningful piece I’ve ever made. At first I didn’t realise how much emotionally was in this for me, it took barely 3 hours to make. But after talking it through I realised it was about being comfortable with any masculinity within me. The phrase ‘Divine Feminine’ has stayed with me ever since I first came across it. If I choose to wear something a little more masculine that does not take away from my femininity, I am divinely feminine. I am what I choose to be and nobody else’s idea of that will taint how I see myself. PERIOD.
Kinda struggling at the minute with really finding and honing in on a style that feels unique to me. I view styling as an art form so I started making this collage as an art piece to inform my styling. I wanted to make something that felt truly like me so I could take that and run with it within my wardrobe.
