This is probably the most impressive and also goofiest looking thing I’ve ever done on rollerblades, and I’m kinda in love with it: Toe press gazelle 90° double toe spin 270° single toe spin Fakie daffy Fakie heel press PS: pivots and spins, both heel and toe are on my remedial to-do list. I’ve ignored them for a long time because they’re not easy for me, but also because they just felt too unserious for my personal “style.” The daffy, while easy, has sat at the very far end of the unserious spectrum for me. But my sessions with the Denver crew and a recent @mushroomblading video (the Kizer Edge NT test) have me rethinking things a lot and trying to find balances of fun to do and fun to achieve. There’s no doubt this line accomplished both. PPS: I have wanted to use this song since this summer, but it needed something inherently playful or goofy to work. That’s not my wheelhouse, so on the shelf it sat until now. Even then, I almost forgot about it when I was trying to find music for this reel. I bet I would have found this line way sooner had I been listening to this song. #endlessblading #wizardskating #swivelcouncil #endlessultra #mushroomblading

Each new Endless frame has a story behind it, and it usually starts with asking what’s missing or could be better. 4x100 and 4x90 might seem like strange targets. After all, the formula has been known for a long time now - get four wheels as close as you can to the bottom of your foot, give them a little rocker, and pair them with a boot and liner with good lateral support. It’s a beautiful idea and a lot of magic has been made with it. But it’s the simplicity of the formula that made it such an exciting problem to think about. Because, to us, what was missing was clear: refinement. Demanding that, at a minimum, each gram of aluminum quite literally carries its own weight. The result is something I’m very proud to be associated with: a clear demonstration that there was a lot more magic to be squeezed out of this idea. I do hope you’ll give them a try, but even if you don’t, hopefully you get the message that there are people out there working hard to make better and better skate products for you. Thank you to Brad for giving me the opportunity to work together again, and for assembling such a great testing team. #endlessblading #endlessultra

360 front closed lion, stunami, star slide, back closed lion, heel manual 180 Inspired by @gubi_cubillos ’s recent line and @mago.pablo ’s mastery of the star slide 🙌 There are some tricky weight transfers needed to make this line work: feeing more upright on the FCL to land the swing leg behind in a cross position, going from centered to weight on the trailing foot on the stunami to star transition, then going from leaning over the BCL to keeping my upper body back to go right into a heel manual. More to work on, especially the leg extension on the star slide so I can trust the edge. #wizardskating #endlessblading #swivelcouncil #wizardskatingpractice

Bits and pieces from yesterday: 1. Toe press, toe manual, heel press line, but on a hill (which actually makes it easier) 😅 2. Front open lion to 360 edge jump, inspired by @nmushkov , who brought up the idea up a while back and then demonstrated it very nicely in a recent clip! 3. The toe press toe spin line I was working on the other night 4. Increasingly dialed toe press 360 (but still not what I want yet) 5. Nonsense 6. Complete nonsense #endlessblading #wizardskating #swivelcouncil

Afternoon session in the sun because that first trick deserved some daylight ☀️ I’m hoping that building some proficiency on the toe press landing with this short frame will pay off on the long bois. There’s just so little room for error, even with me letting my skates separate. #endlessblading #swivelcouncil #wizardskating #endlessultra

Hi - it’s been a month and it’s been a month 😅. Still skating. Originally I was going to keep some of this for the next Swivel Edit, but by the time that’s due I’m pretty sure I’ll be doing all of this much better🤞 Hope y’all are well. #wizardskating #swivelcouncil #endlessblading

Yesterday’s session was about chipping away missing fundamentals in order to make improvements to my favorite tricks. I can’t stand how spaced apart my toe wheels get in a fakie toe press, especially going into a fakie toe press jump (especially a 360) or the second half of a toe press carve. I’ve tried to be more mindful of it, but that’s just shed light on the problem, not fixed it. There are two pieces to this that I worked on last night: 1. I need to be able to hop from a proper toe press. This requires closer attention to how I am positioning my body: I must be able to simultaneously maintain my balance AND be able to generate meaningful amounts of push off of the toe wheels. This was something @billyarlew mentioned to me YEARS ago at this point - I’ll try to find the reel and share it. I had only given it a perfunctory attempt and wrote it off as too scary. But there was no way around it any more - as has been the case lately, I was just a few awkward minutes away from this just being another thing I could do. PS: the second clip is a great drill I came up with for trying to keep my boots together through the back half of a toe press carve (more work to be done though, as evidenced by the boot spacing on the 180 out). 2. Getting my knees up on 360s. Your boy is decidedly not bouncy, but it turns out that I can manage a decent 360 even on the advanced frames if I just bother to get my knees up higher. I’m hoping I can use this from a toe press jump as well. #wizardskating #swivelcouncil #wizardadvanced #wizardskatingpractice

Checking in some rough drafts 📝 1. 540 FCL, loop, 180 BCL, revert, toe press - this was the last thing I tried and I was surprised I managed to connect it all together. After doing toe press landings from a 360, the loop felt much easier. 2. 540 FCL, edge jump 360, “toe press” landing - briefly revisited this one from the night before and managed to get a cleaner landing pretty quickly. 3. FCL “hop”, toe press, toe spin, heel press, 360 - the only line I had thought about before going out, this one ended up being a bit of me just button mashing. The beginning of the sequence has some potential. But like with the other tricks, toe wheel separation is the big issue. #wizardskating #swivelcouncil #wizardadvanced #wizardskatingpractice
