Because learning is most powerful through practice, students from Mashrek International School, together with the “If Only You Knew” team, took part in a hands-on experience in gardening and plant care for both school and home, learning to plant sage and thyme seedlings. Let’s make agriculture a way of life.

Mariam Al Jaajaa (@mariamjaajaa ) is a development economist and practitioner working across international development, food systems, and humanitarian response. Her work focuses on how policy, war, and political economy shape access to livelihoods and food sovereignty across the Arab region.
As General Manager of Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, a green resistance non-profit founded in 2003, she leads efforts dedicated to protecting natural resources and strengthening environmental and agricultural resilience, particularly in Palestine and Jordan.
“There's a complete imbalance of power. Throwing words like war and conflict neutralizes the situation, which is not correct. Another issue is the use of, ‘oh, they're food insecure’ rather than saying it's a man made famine.” – @mariamjaajaa

Because protecting the earth begins with planting it, we aim to foster a culture of volunteerism and strengthen a sense of belonging to the land among youth.
With APN volunteers and students from Al Hussein Technical University, we planted 400 fruit trees in the Northern Jordan Valley.

One of our farmers produced over 18 tons of fresh cucumbers from around 3 dunums, turning the land into a dignified source of livelihood for his family, and reaffirming agriculture as a cornerstone of survival and resistance.
So Gaza's farmers can keep producing food, join us in standing firmly by their side.

Land is the enduring foundation of life and livelihood. It is this belief that drives us to revive our land through agriculture, so our roots run deeper and stronger than any challenge we face. In the heart of Bani Na’im, Hebron, we honored this commitment together with MedLabs, planting 460 grapevines and stone fruit trees.

During the holy month of Ramadan, Gaza saw a sharp rise in the prices of vegetables and essential food items. In response, we joined efforts with a number of supporters to distribute 740 food baskets containing fresh vegetables and basic supplies, reaching around 4,440 people.
Amid the vast and ongoing need for food, this effort marks a vital step as we work to scale our support across Gaza.

From 20 to 59 beehives in Gaza - production of honey, important pollination, and a more complete ecosystem is strengthening in Gaza!
The Sameer Project and Arab Protection of Nature (@apnorg ) collaborated in December to provide four beekeepers sugar to revive their beehives, and thus supply of honey. Today we see the fruits of their labor and how far your donations went!
For the beekeepers, affording large quantities of sugar that they needed is beyond their financial reach. So The Sameer Project and Arab Protection of Nature Group provided 2,600 kilos of sugar to the beekeepers, and that cost at the time around $3,980 (including 11% commission). A small amount that truly went a long way thanks to your support.
Self-sufficiency is crucial and despite the ongoing genocide, The Sameer Project supports sustainable projects like this one. In partnership with APN, we have worked on farm projects, beehive projects, and we are exploring other ways to collaborate. But for that we need your material support.
Donate today to the Shelters, Goods, and Activities Campaign to see more sustainable projects in Gaza.
