@mikey.donuts Ryan Reigner and I testing the road flare we made. During the tech scout of the Turnbow basement Frank Darabont mentioned that a road flare gets used and that we should probably have one that’s LED for safety. Brett, the DoP, turns to me and asks if that’s something we can do. I said I don’t know but we will give it a try. We did some test with a real road flare and looked at a few LED colors to find one that Brett liked. The flare needed to be controllable and durable enough to be tossed across a room. It was a fun light to make. Brett used it again in another movie he shot this year.
So glad I got to work on a show with my family. Such a great moment for Ash and me. I remember running over to set and hanging out at video village to watch Kilby do background work. Most days I could run downstairs and see Ash in her office or go to set and she would be there.
Jamie Armstrong. Always a pleasure to work with. Passionate about the craft. Hard worker. Friendly. Father of Danzig. The Jacksonville Film Community lost a good person. Deeply missed.
We did a presentation today for the @iclsociety . Mike, Ryan, and I talked about some of the methods we used to make lights flicker. Some photos are from the actual presentation today and some are from our tech run yesterday. Thanks @mikey.donuts@ascent_lighting and @stephengrum for lighting it for us.
