Bastard Bath is a new metal project by Kuba Stępień and Maja Gajewicz.

The project introduces the concept of “castleness” as a cultural perception of an object as a castle, shaped by collective imagination rather than by its authentic history.

A special necklace I made for myself from a heart-shaped charm/amulet dating back to the beginning of the last century, and two hand-dyed silk ribbons that originally belonged to an old Venetian mask from around the same period.
The heart is made of textile and is probably filled with lavender and other scented herbs. It was given to a young girl, who could discreetly place it in her bra, either for sentimental reasons or as a secret token.
The concept was popular in the past as a form of “hidden locket” or “keepsake heart,” worn close to the heart or just close to the body.
