Hosted by APDA Minnesota Chapter, UMN Udall Center, and Parkinson's Foundation, Dr. Connor will present: “Non-Motor Symptoms: How Parkinson’s Disease Affects All Body Systems.”
Parkinson’s disease is often known for its movement symptoms, but it also impacts many other parts of the body. In this session, Dr. Connor will help attendees better understand the non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s and how they affect daily life, health, and overall well-being.
Dr. Connor is a Parkinson’s specialist and movement disorders neurologist at the Brain and Spine Institute at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Parkinson’s Disease (PD) vs. Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP)
They may sound similar, but they are different conditions.
Parkinson’s Disease (PD):
• Tremor, stiffness, slow movement
• Often responds well to medication
• Progresses gradually over many years
Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP):
• Rare condition
• Early balance problems and frequent falls
• Difficulty with eye movements
• Limited response to Parkinson’s meds
• Progresses faster than PD
Why it matters:
PSP is often misdiagnosed as PD. An accurate diagnosis helps ensure the right care and support.
