Multi-sector stakeholders gathered in Iloilo City for the 2nd Western Visayas Stakeholders Planning Meeting for the Medical Simulation Exercise (SIMEX) under Project MedX, a flagship initiative of A-PAD Philippines aimed at strengthening local emergency medical response systems.
Held on 27 May 2026 at Diversion 21 Hotel, the meeting brought together participants from government, health, academe, private sector, civil society, and humanitarian organizations to align roles and operational plans for the Municipality of Oton, Iloiloโthe pilot LGU for the exercise.
Discussions highlighted Western Visayasโ vulnerability to typhoons, flooding, and seismic hazards, underscoring the need for stronger interoperable and systems-based emergency medical response. Technical inputs from the Department of Health Region VI, Oton MDRRMO, and the Municipal Health Office helped ground planning in both policy and operational realities.

โจFilipinos are often known for their resilience. Living in one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world, communities across the Philippines continue to face typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, flooding, and other risks year after year. Yet we continue to rise, rebuild, and emerge stronger.

To begin, here are a few words from our own languages that reflect how Filipinos understand and embody resilience every day. โจ

A-PAD Philippines, alongside its Central Luzon partners, participated in the Incident Command System (ICS) Executive Course led by the Civil Defense Central Luzon on April 29, 2026 at the Subic Bay Peninsular Hotel, Subic Freeport Zone.
Anchored in the goals of Project MEDx, the training strengthens a shared framework and common operational language among government agencies, medical institutions, and response partnersโenabling faster, more coordinated, and more effective action during emergencies.
As a key pre-simulation activity, the course lays the groundwork for an upcoming multi-sectoral exercise that will demonstrate interoperability in action, ensuring that systems, teams, and protocols work seamlessly when it matters most.
Project MEDx, A-PAD PHโs flagship initiative on emergency medical response collaboration, continues to drive these efforts forward by bridging sectors and building a more resilient response ecosystem.
Our sincere appreciation to OCD Region III, trainers from Hermosa Bataan DRRMO, City of San Fernando DRRMO and all partners for their leadership and active engagement. Together, we move closer to a more prepared and disaster-resilient Central Luzon. ๐ค

A-PAD PH teamed up with the DAVSUR Chamber of Commerce Inc. to engage the local business sector in a day-long event in Digos City on April 23, 2026, featuring learning sessions on microenterprise resilience planning and climate change.
Aside from learning about disaster risks, participants also developed business continuity strategies and proposed climate action steps to help mitigate global warming and strengthen community resilience.
This event highlights an important truth:๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐, ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐.

When disasters strike across the region, rescue and response doesnโt stop at borders. Through the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management, countries come together to share skills, respond faster, and save more lives.
Last year, Cyclone Ditwah struck Sri Lanka. Oshada Madushanka and the A-PAD Sri Lanka SAR Team saved 21 people in four days using advanced swift water and rope rescue skills learned through joint Indo-Pacific training in Taiwan.
Today, we're fundraising to send the next 20 rescuers. Be part of this mission. Every contribution helps strengthen regional preparedness.
