𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨-𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞 Multi-sector stakeholders gathered in Iloilo City for the 2nd Western Visayas Stakeholders Planning Meeting for the Medical Simulation Exercise (SIMEX) under Project MedX, a flagship initiative of A-PAD Philippines aimed at strengthening local emergency medical response systems. Held on 27 May 2026 at Diversion 21 Hotel, the meeting brought together participants from government, health, academe, private sector, civil society, and humanitarian organizations to align roles and operational plans for the Municipality of Oton, Iloilo—the pilot LGU for the exercise. Discussions highlighted Western Visayas’ vulnerability to typhoons, flooding, and seismic hazards, underscoring the need for stronger interoperable and systems-based emergency medical response. 🤝𝗧𝗢𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗠𝗔𝗬𝗢𝗡 🌋 As Mayon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3, thousands of families across Albay continue to face displacement, ashfall, risks, and disrupted livelihoods. In times like these, our fellow 𝒌𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒏𝒔 need immediate relief and support through our collective action. In times like these, collaboration matters most. A-PAD PH partners and volunteers are mobilizing relief support for affected communities — working together to coordinate assistance, identify urgent needs, and strengthen collective response efforts on the ground. As part of the ongoing response, A-PAD PH and partners are coordinating with local stakeholders and will be conducting needs assessment activities in affected communities to help identify existing gaps, priority concerns, and immediate humanitarian needs. Living in one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world, communities across the Philippines continue to face typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, flooding, and other risks year after year. Yet we continue to rise, rebuild, and emerge stronger. 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒐 𝒃𝒂𝒈𝒐 𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒍𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒕, 𝒂𝒏𝒐 𝒏𝒈𝒂 𝒃𝒂 𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒈 𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 “𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕”? 🤔☁️ 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 #𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝! 💭This is where we explain, in our bestest effort, concepts related to disaster risk reduction and management.Through this series, we aim to bring the science, systems, and stories behind resilience closer to communities, and help explain the ideas that shape policies, preparedness, and action. Anchored in the goals of Project MEDx, the training strengthens a shared framework and common operational language among government agencies, medical institutions, and response partners—enabling faster, more coordinated, and more effective action during emergencies. As a key pre-simulation activity, the course lays the groundwork for an upcoming multi-sectoral exercise that will demonstrate interoperability in action, ensuring that systems, teams, and protocols work seamlessly when it matters most. Project MEDx, A-PAD PH’s flagship initiative on emergency medical response collaboration, continues to drive these efforts forward by bridging sectors and building a more resilient response ecosystem. 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 🤝 A-PAD PH teamed up with the DAVSUR Chamber of Commerce Inc. to engage the local business sector in a day-long event in Digos City on April 23, 2026, featuring learning sessions on microenterprise resilience planning and climate change. Aside from learning about disaster risks, participants also developed business continuity strategies and proposed climate action steps to help mitigate global warming and strengthen community resilience. This event highlights an important truth:𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒕 𝒅𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆, 𝒔𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝒅𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒔. Through the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management, countries come together to share skills, respond faster, and save more lives. Last year, Cyclone Ditwah struck Sri Lanka. Oshada Madushanka and the A-PAD Sri Lanka SAR Team saved 21 people in four days using advanced swift water and rope rescue skills learned through joint Indo-Pacific training in Taiwan.
