i spent the morning of my 20th birthday playing dress up, feeling the beat of shake, asada, burna rolling through my hips, and swallowing my teen years. here i am learning to protect the little girl inside of me. she who is loud and bold and full and true. she who forgives quickly and loves even quicker, moving to explore whatever part of life the prickling whisper of bitterness threatened to steal. she who is liberated by play and grounded in God. she who would frolic and dance and move whenever she needs. her art was always recorded, always honored, no matter how awful. inside of me she lives and i pray to spend everyday raising her and sharing her. i wish for a decade of spontaneity, a decade of abundant gratitude, a decade of discovery and rediscovery of who my beautiful God is, a decade of big and bold and beautiful love, and a decade of time made to play. may i frolic and cartwheel and watch the sunset and write poetry on gum wrappers and eat so much ice cream and dream big dreams and pray for every little thing that crosses my mind. sending love from Chile, and thanking it for such beautiful lessons learned and a month month month of birthday celebration.🌟🍓📸

This semester, I had the honor of wielding the pen to cement incredible artists and revolutionary minds into our collective consciousness, and in the process I had my writing sit on the walls of a special exhibition and in the hearts of many visionaries. It was powerful & beautiful to witness the curatorial genius of @mariah.norman and Nwaka Onwusa and be it apart of putting into words.
It was a great privilege to be entrusted with capturing such biographical brilliance, speaking to the depths of such immense impact, and working alongside my artistic family, @blackartscollective_ , to put together an event raising the name of Chuck Stewart (a name that should sit in each and every mind for generations to come). Thank you, @chuckstewartphotography , for trusting us with this precious history, precious narrative, and precious life.
This is only the beginning. More n more electrifying language to come.💐⭐️🦋
