What does it mean to be perceived as AI literate and how are perceptions of skill impacting the career outcomes of Black workers in Atlanta? This is the question at the center of my new study, “(404) Job Not Found: What Workforce Training Can’t Fix For Black Atlantans in the Age of AI”, which is NOW AVAILABLE to read on the Data & Society website. I have been working towards this day for the past 19 months and it feels surreal that it is finally here for you all to read! I am so very proud of this work and all of the supplemental materials that I, along with my colleagues at Data & Society, have put together which also includes a policy brief that has been published today alongside my report (co-authored by our State Policy Manager @serenadokuaa and yours truly). C’mon Black excellence on BHM! Y’all, this is all I ever wanted to do: be given the agency and the resources to execute projects of my own design. Thank you to Data & Society for believing in me and my vision for what research at the intersection of labor, race, and technology can be. Doing this work has been both a dream come true and the beginning of much more to come. I’m nowhere near finished as a cultural anthropologist, I’m only just getting started. Visit DataSociety.net (link in bio) to read my report, read the policy brief, and to register for our public virtual program on Feb.17 which will feature GA State Senator Nikki Merritt. Stay tuned here and on (link in bio) for announcements about another public program related to this work in Atlanta (duh!). Cover art and illustrations by @elianarodgers Nail art by @skyynailsintl
