The reason I paint, and keep painting, is that it’s the perfect maze, the perfect game of figuring out what’s at the stake at the current moment. You never step into the same river twice, when you paint (or make clay, write a piece of software, make a dish) that moment of intention is forever incapsulated, then and there. Until the next one happens, the bag of ingredients is different because of the river we spoke about. Over time, paintings act as a visual diary. It’s humbling that other people find interest in something that is such an inner experience. Thank you!!! To the collectors of this piece and I’m curious to see what follows (flows) next.
Anton Ian for Merger I

Coincidence would have it that Merger and Anton crossed paths on a cold December afternoon. Anton Ian is a creative individual and visual artist whose work spans oil paintings, sculptures, and publications.
Â
At the office of a mutual friend, Anton Ian walked in with his characteristic energy and told us about the painting hanging on the wall - his own. He then invited us to visit his atelier, which at the time was located in an old church. Amazed by the sheer volume of work, we were captivated not only by his productivity, but by the way he, as an artist, chooses his medium in direct response to his ideas.
Â
Since that day, a bond between Merger and Anton Ian has formed. He has been consistently supportive of our journey, and we’ve followed his in return.Â
Read the full interview at mergercph.com, where Anton talk about his grandmother, an old communist shirt, and some of his coming work.
