It feels great to be back mixing it up with the front group today after a couple of years spent out in the cold. P13 against the Worlds very best and a second row start for the XCO on Sunday, my best result since Leogang 2023. Having that feeling in the body and being able to ride the way I did today is hugely encouraging that the path I'm on is the right one.
Tomorrow is the final course recon for the XCO on Sunday which will be kicking off at 3:30pm local time (6:30pm Sunday evening in NZ). We'll see what the weather throws at us 👀

First day on track today, and just like that tomorrow we're back World Cup racing! Short track kicks off at 18:05 local time here in Korea. That's 21:05 Friday night for those at home in NZ.

Back to back wins this weekend in Cairns at the UCI Continental series double header. It was so cool to be back racing where I had my first ever Elite World Championship race in 2017. That day I was sitting comfortably inside the top 10, around 7th I believe when I binned it with a lap to go down Jacob's ladder 🥴. That day I was on a hardtail, with a high post, 100mm of fork travel and 2.2 tyres. This weekend I was on a modern @lapierrebikes and felt a lot safer heading down there each lap 🤣 Even if the rocks were a bit greasy! Modern XCO bikes have changed a lot in recent years!
A really well run event and I hope to be back again in the near future.
Nine-time #OceaniaMTB Champion @anton.cooper continued his winning ways with a dominant win in round 5 of the 2026 Oceania Mountain Bike Continental Series in Cairns. His third win from three starts in the series and he returns to the top of the standings.

Elite National XCO title #11
It was touch and go to make the start line today after a wee warm up misshap a long way from the start line. Luckily I could call someone for a ride (Cheers Paul M!). Scroll to the end for photos...
I had to use the first couple of laps as my warm up, with the pace being pushed by a strong @matthew.mtb (big things to come for him this year!) I was able to go solo in the second half of the race and gain some time on the parts of the track which suited me. Happy to tick this one off and wear the jersey once again at the World Cups.

My 9th Oceania elite continental title today! Very hot and humid conditions, but happy to earn the jersey back and put in a tidy performance. Next up National Champs in 2 weeks time.
