Long black nappy curls foreign to this july and flat virescent land
a girl native to her hills and the Blue Mountain Peaks but here now all of a sudden amongst the stark brittle branches that break on a gelid day
amongst the snotty-nosed children she writes about this madness
describing the wet black slush that mars the season
amongst the solid ice she wishes was riven
amongst the morning sun that splits the floating dread
a daughter of struggling gypsies now west of Plessis a fish out of water.
left with only memories of her departure one foot off the train and a simple wave goodbye
a sombre introduction and into a mundane afternoon a banal reality on Lagimodiere Boulevard she hears everything now as she sidles to the bus stop
her nerves penetrating her thoughts a poetess must describe her environment
quibbling over her every word and line loathing her surroundings rightfully so as a car next to her screeches its rubber
voices from the car mutter and squeal and then yell obscenities “hey darkie can I touch your fro?”
her head routinely slung low during her route home confused as to why pops was impressed with Mr. Trudeau
the musty windows on the 47 are difficult to transcend she flees for a moment transfixed by the sepia on her old photos the only treasure she has left are memories that cradle her heartbeat she’s aware those images live elsewhere, not here.
now married to a man who had a similar journey
they share their pain, but laugh welcoming a new life to the prairies.

If you’ve been following my journey, you know how long it’s taken to bring this project to life and reach this milestone.
The process has been filled with all kinds of emotions and experiences — setbacks, love, pain, heartbreak... you name it.
For me, releasing music isn’t about sticking to a routine; it’s about sharing a moment. And this project? It’s a snapshot of who I am right now and a portrait of Blackness in 2025.
I want to thank everyone who made this possible and all of you who’ve been with me along the way.
