On Friday, August 1, 2025 @solarmythbar I debuted my first solo photography exhibition titled, ‘Expedition de amor’— a photo essay by Anthony Ali, of South Philadelphia’s Italian Market, 2023-2025. 50 works, curated by @kristennowicki & myself. Here are digital scan renditions— for folks who could not make the show and anyone else who appreciates the sharing of my work here. This first post of three will contain 17 pictures along with the second, and the third with 16 — ALL in the numerical order they were presented during the show. ——————————————— The show existed for 1 month w/ 45 out of 50 pieces selling mostly opening night… I am forever thankful to everyone who purchased a piece, visited the show, came to the Artist Talk, and the final reception. Your presence will forever be obliged to. ——————————————— Printed & Sponsored by @indiephotolab Digitally scanned by @indiephotolab Presented by @solarmythbar ——————————————— From the flyer— … “Too many times I have tried to explain my photographic ventures into the Italian Market and many times over I fumble with concrete words for those experiences. On this journey, I also found that trying to put words to a phenomenon sometimes does not need to happen for it to still exist on its own accord. The closest I have gotten is ‘de amor’ —a phrase that I feel encapsulates this photo essay of about three years; And it is only right that this is rooted in hispanic culture. I have been on an expedition to have a deeper connection to this place we call the ‘Italian Market’ and to frame it in its fruitfulness of life, during my time. Throughout this essay, you will see an appreciation for the whole, as well as the sum.. of individual parts that make this place so special.”

As some of you may know last month on December 5th I hosted the second (annual?) portrait night at Ace Outpost @aceoutpostphilly along with our friends of MishMish @mishmishphilly who had their monthly Wine Pop Up. I want to share a few of my favorites in no particular order and feel it is important to show some results of such an idea. This night was truly a beautiful one.. another for the books I’d say— with over 150+ pictures taken!!!! I am extremely grateful for all of the love that was started, shown & spread throughout the night; and even more thankful for everyone who showed up, hung out, and just had a wonderful time with me :) .. it was a pleasure! Portraiture, is something that I love dearly and I use events like this to show the fun with it; while still taking it very seriously.. (you saw how locked in I was)… A few special thank yous! ———————————— Thank you to the Ace Team! and Julian especially for being receptive of the idea and giving me full control over the situation. Thank you Indie Photo Lab @indiephotolab for all my film needs, processing, and scanning. I love that team with all my heart and am forever grateful for the best film lab in the city! Thank you Hope @honeycyclevintage and Dan, for helping me get this backdrop display set up just the exact way I wanted it with a scarcity of time! Thank you Chloe @chloeflowering , for designing the beautiful floral arrangement w/ @walterpinestudio that made the backdrop so beautiful. I loved our small moment of researching shapes & color. You killed that! Thank you Olivia, for bringing me an extra shutter cord when mine broke in the middle of the night 🫂 LOL …And again, a THANK YOU TO EVERYONE for trusting me with capturing your portrait. —————————Cheers 🥂
