I’ve been thinking about my childhood a great deal recently. Coupled with the fact that finding and doing musical work has made it difficult to prioritise my own writing, I’ve been wanting to record something that was both effortless to create, and that reminds me of the best parts of my young life – much of which revolved around pianos.
Soon I’ll be releasing 2 tracks of solo piano music, recorded in my living room, which I hope will be the beginning of a series called God of Hands. They are some of the most transparent things I’ve ever made, and honestly I wish I’d done it sooner.
These pieces will also accompany a collaborative visual project, for which these shots were test footage. Despite being practices, I think they capture how sappy I’m feeling about it all.

Under the hood type of afternoon.
It’s kind of giving Megan Fox working on her bike in that transformers movie, except that it’s a piano in this situation?
It was equal parts joyful and challenging to make this @stimming_official remix. I have so much admiration for his patience in transforming sounds and atmospheres over time, and that certainly felt like the guiding star in this rework.
Other than messing with spatial depth and genre all over the place, I wanted my track to emphasise the tension, anxiety and self-doubt that I hear in the original. Hopefully there are equal parts light and shade in my version; I want it to make you feel like you can keep going.
I only found out about the competition 2 weeks ago, so maybe one day I'll have a more polished mix/master to share when I'm not rushing so much, but for now, enjoy in all of its chaos.
