The most useful thing my first business ever did was collapse. At the time it did not feel useful. It felt like the end of something I had poured years into, and the start of a personal debt mountain I was not sure I would ever climb. What that season taught me about resilience, decision making and how to actually run a business has shaped everything I do now. It is also why I am so careful about the systems and checks I have in place today. When tough times hit, the instinct is to run, pivot or quietly disappear. Sometimes that is the right call.
